On Sunday, the Philadelphia Eagles decided to part ways with the quarterback who has served as the leader of their franchise for the last 12 years.

Donavan McNabb  was traded to the Washington Redskins for a second-round draft pick and a third- or fourth-round pick in 2011.

Although McNabb is 33-years-old, he continues to play at an All-Pro level. In 2009, he threw 22 touchdowns and led the Eagles to the NFC playoffs.

The lopsided trade became instant fodder for Twitter users. Hours after the trade was announced, #McNabbwastradedfor was a top trending topic on Twitter. Here are a a few of the interesting Tweets that poked fun at the trade. –a.r.
