Nicki Minaj Eyeing Lead Role in Film Adaptation of ‘Charge it to the Game’

Rap queen Nicki Minaj has been ruling the music charts for the last year and now it seems the Queens, N.Y., emcee is planning to take a serious stab at an acting career after reports surfaced that she’s considering taking the lead role in the film adaptation of Michele A. Fletcher’s novel, Charge it to the Game.

According to bossip.com, in the film, Minaj would play the role of Erica Payne, a young New York woman trying to become a top dog in Brooklyn’s criminal underground.

Minaj isn’t the only celebrity up for the role. Other actresses being considered by Fletcher include Tasha Smith, “Basketball Wives” star Evelyn Lozado, Keri Hilson and fellow rappers Eve and Lil Kim.

Minaj, who majored in drama at New York’s famous LaGuardia High School, which was immortalized in FAME, the movie and TV show, has dabbled in acting in the past, showing off her acting chops in her video for “Right Thru Me,” spitting comical lyrics in a January episode of “Saturday Night Live” and acting in the 2009 independent film, Stuck On Broke.
