Two “American Idol” alums are in a bit of a role reversal these days. Both Fantasia Barrino and Jordin Sparks are flossing new frames. Barrino’s bottom has mushroomed for her role in the Mahalia movie, while Sparks flipped the script and carved a curvaceous vessel from her once-larger figure.
Barrino told reporters that, no, she is not being thrashed about on an emotional rollercoaster again. Her weight gain is on purpose.
“In fact, she’s just signed on to play the lead in ‘Mahalia’ and has been told to gain 30 to 45 pounds for the role,” her rep told radaronline.com.
Meanwhile, Sparks, 21, has been going hard in the paint with her personal trainer for about a year now. This after vowing that she would never renounce her chunkiness to squeeze into Hollywood’s impossibly thin standards.
“I love food, and I love my curves,” she revealed to Hollywood Life. “I’m very strong-willed, and I’m stubborn in that sense to where I’m just like, ‘No, I won’t be that way.’”
However, Sparks began her workout regimen with a personal trainer while on tour with the Jonas Brothers. “Any time I find time — or I’m not sleeping — he’s like, ‘Let’s work out, let’s do something.’ I’m like, ‘No,’ but he gets my butt up, and I’ve got to do it,” she says. “It’s fun to do that.”
Now, there is more to love about Sparks because, ironically, there is less of her.
