Chris Brown’s Mother Says He Needs to ‘Deal With’ His Past Assault on Rihanna

In the months that have followed Chris Brown’s infamous violent outburst on the set of “Good Morning America,” many fans and celebrities have defended the singer, saying the media is being too tough on Brown. However, in a surprising twist, Brown’s mother, Joyce Hawkins, is now saying that her son needs to “deal with” his assault on former girlfriend, Rihanna, and the media’s questions about the incident.

“He has to learn to deal with it and go on with his life,” said Brown’s mother to Sister 2 Sister magazine. “This is something that happened. It was a huge mistake … It was not good at all. But he is still a human being, and we all make mistakes, and we live, and we go on with it.”

Hawkins continues, saying Brown needs to open up about the 2009 incident, for his own sake, and be comfortable answering questions about the assault for the rest of his career.

“I think he really needs to talk about the situation in itself, what actually happened to Rihanna… So, that he can get that out for himself,” said Hawkins. “He needs to learn to deal with it and answer it, no matter what.”

Hawkins also discussed the leaked nude photos of her son, saying that he would never intentionally leak those kind of photos.

“Chris’ personality never would have sent that,” said Hawkins. “I guess it was somebody he probably had known for a while that may have been upset with him for a certain reason, maybe he doesn’t talk to them anymore.”
