Billy Blanks Jr. began teaching fitness classes at 12 years old, back when his father, Tae Bo creator Billy Blanks became a national fitness phenomenon. Now a married man with a passion for fitness and dance, Billy Jr. and his wife Sharon form a powerful fitness and edutainment alliance.
Billy’s first exercise program, Cardioke, created a worldwide media frenzy after an appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, and since then one or both of the duo have been featured on ABC, NBC, CNN, MTV, VH1, Fox, Endemol UK, “Entertainment Tonight”, “E!,” People Magazine, Shape, and Style Network. They have shared their fitness expertise with Alicia Keys, Tina Turner, Celine Dion, Tom Hanks, Paula Abdul, Jason Alexander, Halle Berry and many more.
The Blanks’ newest venture is “Dance With Me,” a series of classes that combine everything they know about exercising, dancing, choreography, having fun and maintaining a healthy body. The popular dance workout is a mainstay at Southern Cali 24 Hour Fitness clubs, and training and certification sessions are available to instructors who are interested in being a part of the Dance With Me fitness craze. A Dance With Me DVD is now available courtesy of an alliance with Lionsgate and ExerciseTV. Billy and Sharon are also in the process of launching two TV shows “Meet The Blanks” and “America’s Fit Party.”
To truly appreciate the charisma, spirit, passion and energy of this couple, you really have to visit one of their classes, get your hands on a DVD, or visit their MeetTheBlanks.com website and view a video or two of them in action.
It’s one thing to make a career out of exercising in public — it is quite another to dedicate yourself, your marriage and your family to serving a community that desperately needs to — as first lady Michelle Obama put it — “Move!”
