Dramatic eye liner and brows backstage at L.A.M.B.

We were excited to get a fresh preview of what’s “in” for the upcoming season and couldn’t help but notice all the pops of color backstage painted on the model’s faces. From bold purples (and we mean bold) and vibrant blue lips, to thick drawn-in brows, the makeup was making a serious beauty statement. Here are the looks that have caught our eye for next year’s blooming season. —mckenzie harris

Well Groomed and Sun Kissed Skin

Backstage at Tracy Reese, models were positively radiant, looking freshly kissed by the sun. Makeup by celebrity makeup artist Mally Roncal for Mally Beauty was the brains behind this look. The theme centered around “mellowed out 70’s”, complimenting Reese’s line of laid back but still very put together outfits.

“The show is all about what every girl wants to look like in the summertime,” said Roncal.

Champagne and copper colored lips, flushed peach cheeks, and soft pink lips proved to perfect polished touch to a bone straight mane and patterned Sally Hansen manicured nails.

Bold Vibrant Lips

Talk about a serious pout! At the Richard Chai Love show, MAC Cosmetics was behind the concept of this show. They created a “Japanese Harajuku girl meets Venice Beach girl” look to balance off the “explosion of color and texture” of the collection. MAC Pro pigments were used for both the eyes and lips against minimal, healthy-looking skin.

Muted Tones

Clear skin, defined cheekbones, and lightly bronzed skin was the featured look for Derek Lam. A sheer golden lip and a little shimmer on the lids using all Estée Lauder products was all makeup artist Tom Pecheux chose to go with. Many of the subtle shadow colors, foundations, and blush used backstage will be released in stores between November 2011 and March of 2012.

Edgy Brows

“Elizabeth Taylor at the gym” was the idea on makeup artist Tom Pecheux’s mind when he created the very strong brow at the Altuzarra show. Using MAC Cosmetics the look was achieved with plenty of kohl black and carbon-hued eye shadow. For a dewy finish, artists swept a Pro Gloss Texture across the lids to seal the look.
