Chris Brown was once R&B’s favorite young star, a cute kid with a clean record, exuberant attitude and bright future. But that all changed in February 2009, when Brown assaulted his then-girlfriend, pop star Rihanna, right before the Grammy Awards. Brown subsequently plead guilty to assault charges and watched his career nearly crumble during the public backlash.
