Star Jones Forms Anti-'Basketball Wives' Group: 5 Other Stars Who Hate the Show

Since its inception, the hit reality show “Basketball Wives” has both thrilled millions of fans and incited the ire of many viewers and celebrities who believe it casts black women in a bad light. And now TV personality Star Jones has joined that list of angry stars and is working to get the show off the air.

The former “The View” co-host recently took to Twitter to voice her grievances about the show, saying it’s time black women took a stand against “BBW.”

“It may be ‘comfortable’ to be quiet when women of color slap the crap out of each other and run across tables barefoot, but #ENOUGHisENOUGH,” wrote Jones.

“About to put together a group of sisters to finally ‘tell the truth’ about the image of women of color in the media,” tweeted Star, who’d just had a meeting with Black Girls Rock! Creator, Beverly Bond.

Jones continued her rant and spoke about the show’s many vicious catfights, specifically the recent fight between Jennifer Williams and Evelyn Lozada’s assistant, Nia Crooks, and supported Williams for filing suit against Croooks.

“And the thought that the woman from #BBW who was smacked doesn’t have the RIGHT to file assault charges is LUDICROUS! You NEVER give up your right not to have your ‘person’ intentionally assaulted unless you are participating in an agreed physical activity,” wrote the celebrity attorney.

Jones also took aim at the hip-hop community and it’s oft-misogynistic stance against women.

“Then we have music filled with misogyny, self-hate and WOMEN calling THEMSELVES Bs and Hs and white rappers are using the N word,” she wrote.

Turning her attention back to “BBW,” Jones explained that she had no personal problem with the shows stars, but wanted better role models for young black girls.

“…little black girls deserve more than what we’re giving! It sickens me @lov3lylina85 when young sis think that behavior is acceptable. U can’t get a REAL JOB acting like an animal,” said Jones.

Jones ended her rant by calling on all black women with influence to take a stand against the show.

“I’m asking all my high profile, platform having conscientious sisters who STAND FOR SOMETHING to just say #ENOUGHisENOUGH & call folk out! Be mad. But think about what I said. WE ARE BETTER than that. You’re either part of the problem or part of the solution.”

Well, Jones is clearly mad at “BBW,” but she’s not the only one to take aim at the ladies of the show. Check out some other stars who’ve slammed “BBW” and other dramatic reality shows. – nicholas robinson
