Brooklyn Nets Should be Called ‘New York N—–s,’ Says ‘NY Post’ Columnist

New York Post
columnist Phil Mushnik incited a cyberspace riot this week as he used racial slurs during a diatribe against the Brooklyn Nets and their co-owner rapper Jay-Z.

Mushnik, in a Post column, even went so far as to suggest that the Brooklyn Nets should change their name to the ‘New York Ni**ers’ in what one can only assume is meant to be a dig at Jay-Z’s use of the n-word in his lyrics. Mushnick argues that since the team has a new “urban” locale it should get the full “Jay-Z treatment. Here’s what Mushnik said in full:

As long as the Nets are allowing Jay-Z to call their marketing shots — what a shock that he chose black and white as the new team colors to stress, as the Nets explained, their new “urban” home — why not have him apply the full Jay-Z treatment?

Why the Brooklyn Nets when they can be the New York N——s? The cheerleaders could be the Brooklyn B—-hes or Hoes. Team logo? A 9 mm with hollow-tip shell casings strewn beneath. Wanna be Jay-Z hip? Then go all the way!

Mushnick’s column fueled a fierce firestorm on Twitter, with numerous commentators in the sports world calling for him to be fired by the Post immediately.

The sports blog Bob Blitz has posted a response from Mushnick to the backlash in which he wrote:

“Bob – Such obvious, wishful and ignorant mischaracterizations of what I write are common. I don’t call black men the N-word; I don’t regard young women as bitches and whores; I don’t glorify the use of assault weapons and drugs. Jay-Z, on the other hand…..Is he the only NBA owner allowed to call black men N–ers?”

Jay-Z profits from the worst and most sustaining self-enslaving stereotypes of black-American culture and I’M the racist? Some truths, I guess, are just hard to read, let alone think about.”

What are your thought? Should the NY Post columnist be fired or forced to resign? Or is there a spate of truth into what he’s saying about Jay-Z who did frequently sprinkle the N-word and B-word in many songs throughout his celebrated career?

Haaa-HAAAAA!  That dude is mad as hell Jay-Z got loot. Look at him…red as hell!!! LOL…no don’t fire him or force his resignation. Who cares…we knew these dudes were out here.  Cause foreal…J’s music is not at all like he’s describing.  Obviously, he didn’t even attempt to listen to even one verse of his. I just can’t stop laughing. Plus, one day he’ll be walking down the street and he’ll get knocked up side the head and have the nerve to wonder why!!!

Terry why does all of your stories have something to do with the N word?  You post all these stories about someone using the N word.  Now that you find these people using the word what are you gonna do about it…Oh nothing.  Stop inciting race riots… A person like you won’t buss a grape but all you write about what a person has did or said.  Really what are you going to do about any of this stuff you write about.  Nothing!  So stop writing this crap.. You have went down as a writer.  Last time I will follow any of your post…..

Black folks say what you wanna, but I get his point completely!!!! 100 damn %!  Its like the saying, “When in Rome, Do as the Romans Do.” If Jay-Z can call you a Ni**a, why can’t I? If you’re a Christian and Jesus wore sandals, why don’t you? If his mama call him Clay, I’ma call him Clay! Lol! Damn! Its amazing to me how we get so riled up when a white person calls us a ninja, a byotch or a hoe, but we proudly call each other hese things and without any recourse all the time.

I don’t think he was being racist, I think he was merely trying to make a very valid point. Lead by freaking example… Before Jay had Baby Blue, he was an avid user of the word B*tch, but now that he has a daughter he claims he won’t use it anymore. WTF dude, really? So it was okay for you to call somebody else’s daughter a b*tch, but a man better not disrespect his? I’m dead…

Cut the crap people. We are so quick to throw jealousy, hate and envy into the pot when it comes to an opposing view that it makes me sick. If you stand in line for 24 hours to buy Air Jordan’s and I say that’s stupid, someone will immediately come back and say, “Oh you just hating cause you couldn’t get them.” No azzhole, I’m not hating, I just think its stupid to stand in line for sneakers, but you won’t stand in line to vote! I mean, why can’t it just be his views are different from yours and that’s that?

    Grow up!
