Teen Writer Amber Ponder's Movie, 'Torn,' Headed to the Silver Screen

Full given name: My full name is Amber Nicole Williams Ponder and I am 14-years-old.

Current project:  I am the writer for the short film Torn, written for the 11 Eleven11 Project.


What drew you to this project?
What drew me to writing this project was I found the thought of expressing an idea through a script intriguing and I felt that it would be a great opportunity for me to express myself creatively and to gain experience. My favorite subject in school is language arts [and] creative writing and I love writing poetry. I thought it would be cool to see if writing a script was just as enjoyable for me as writing poetry.

Where you were born/where you were raised:
I was born and raised in Atlanta.


Zodiac Sign: My zodiac sign is a Cancer.

What do you hope viewers will walk away with after seeing this project? 
When people see this film, I hope they will recognize how important it is to follow your heart and give it your all in everything you do. I also hope viewers will see in my film that perseverance, dedication, and love are all you need to save the things or people you truly care about.

Who are your personal idols in the industry?
My personal idol in the writing industry is Maya Angelou because she provides a clear understanding of a deep love for writing and I hope to do the same.

What’s on your music playlist? 
On my music playlist is a wide variety of music genres. I love music and like to listen to music that makes me bop my head or that makes me really put things into perspective.

MAC or PC?
I definitely prefer MAC over PC.

Previous work?
I am a rising 9th grader and will attend Landmark Christian Academy in the Fall.

Three things you can’t live without:
The three things I can’t live without are my journal, iPod, and my cell phone.
