'Dark Knight Rises' Screening Shooting Leaves 12 Dead, 50 Wounded

Man Opens Fire During ‘Dark Knight Rises’ Screening

Chaos erupted in Colorado this morning after a man dressed in costume opened fire during a midnight screening of The Dark Knight Rises. Police in Aurora, Colo., report that 12 people are dead and at least 50 are wounded after a man in all-black body armor and a gas mask burst through an emergency exit and began firing at moviegoers at random.

Police also believe he released some sort of smoke or tear gas bomb. Witnesses told authorities that the 6-foot suspect began his attack during a shooting scene in the movie, catching several movie goers off guard. 10 people were killed on the scene, another 2 died form their injuries at local hospitals.The shooter has now been identified as 24-year-old  James Holmes, he has since been taken into custody. The man later told police he had explosives in his car and his apartment building; both areas have been evacuated.


The FBI has been called into the investigation. A terror plot is not suspected. A 6-year-old and a 3-moth old were injured during the shooting. –danielle canada
