MLK III Welcomed to Bimini

During the first annual Martin Luther King Jr. Bimini Bahamas Plaque Project, the eldest son of the late civil rights leader received a warm welcome from natives of the Carribean island. As previously reported Martin Luther King III and his wife Arndrea Waters King, attended a plaque unveiling ceremony where they were greeted by dignitaries and given a firsthand look at the tributes to the international civil rights icon. “I want to thank this nation, thank this island.  We appreciate what is being done today,” said King III on the occasion.

Also on hand to greet the couple was a spirited Junkanoo band, that paraded through the streets and played up-beat tunes. The traditional collective that featured homemade drums, cow bells and hand crafted trumpets also donned colorful garb while performing in King’s honor.
