Toni Braxton Says Oprah Winfrey Was ‘Mean’ to Her

It’s considered an essential rite of passage for our nation’s biggest stars to sit down for a tell-all interview with Queen of all Media, Oprah Winfrey. And, although most stars are more than happy about the power boost such an interview brings, a few are left with a sour taste in their mouths. Unfortunately, for Toni Braxton that was the case when she sat on Winfrey’s couch.

In a clip from Braxton’s upcoming “Behind The Music” special, which airs tonight, Oct. 29, the singer talks about her interview with Winfrey, which took place during the height of her first bankruptcy scandal, and she explains that she felt disgraced and belittled by Winfrey.

“She was so frickin’ mean to me, I was in shock. I couldn’t believe it because I loved her so much. I admired her and looked up to her and she pretty much reprimanded me,” Braxton explained.

“She said, ‘I hear you have Gucci flatware; I’m Oprah Winfrey and I don’t have Gucci flatware…’ You didn’t have Gucci flatware because you didn’t wanna buy it; it’s not because you couldn’t afford it,” she added.

Squeezing her thumb and forefinger together, Braxton recalls, “She made me feel this big.”

Winfrey has yet to comment on Braxton’s revelation, but, hopefully, they can squash this beef —  maybe during another high-profile interview. And, Braxton’s not the only star that has been rubbed the wrong way by Winfrey. Check out some other famous Winfrey feuds below. – nicholas robinson

I do not think Oprah Winfrey was trying to belittle Toni, come on. Think about if you was hanging out with your girlfriends and if it is true about the Gucci flatware, you damn well your true friends would have said the same (however, in another way). Again, if it is true, I guess money really change people. No, I do not have wealth like other people, however what happen to regular or non brand items. Dollar Tree, Dollar General and Family Dollar 2 for $1 flatware. They last long and service it purpose the same.

I think Toni is overreacting. She should be thankful that Oprah even wanted to interview her. If she was mean to you, grow up and get over it. Oprah didn’t file bankruptcy but you did Toni.

Exactly! How come Oprah didn’t file for bankruptcy, ever?! And Toni, twice?! Enough said. I love Toni, but lately, she just turned into some bling ghetto hoe, with her fake face, plastic surgeries and slutty image. I think I prefer the middle class, girl next door Toni from the first album. Success went to her head.

Oprah thinks everyone has to bow down to her. Oprah is a b*tch and more then a few folks have said so. That “nice” stuff is an act. So what if Toni filed bankruptcy, that doesn’t mean anything and doesn’t give that whale of a tail Winfrey to be snobby. I hope that OWN channel flops big time…she needs a reality check.

So sad. Maybe Oprah doesn’t realize she is hurting so many people. I am sure she does not really think she is superior to others, she seems way to down to earth for that.

Some times the truth hurts. Toni Braxton should be happy that Oprah cared enough to offer her some insight into her decision making.
