Kobe Bryant: The black millionaire blueprint for success

Bryant ranks third and sixth on the league’s all-time post-season scoring and all-time regular season scoring lists, respectively, according to nba.com. Endorsement deals pad earnings, Nike launched Zoom Kobe IV in 2010; the company’s “lightest basketball shoe ever.” Centerpiece of director Spike Lee’s documentary; crew of “Kobe Doin’ Work” used 30 cameras to capture the player’s every move during a game in 2008. 

Today, Bryant battles the likes of LeBron James, another straight-from-high-school phenom, in terms of career stats, endorsements, jersey sales, fan adulation and, ultimately, championship titles. Bryant holds a commanding lead over King James, 5-to-1, but LBJ leads in the MVP trophies department, three-to-one.
