3 ways to get beautiful and stay healthy in the New Year

The New Year is a time for new beginnings and the perfect opportunity to take off a few extra unwanted pounds to improve your health. By losing just 10 percent of your body weight, you can lower your cholesterol and reduce your blood pressure and you will feel better and look better! So resolve to activate a plan to support your goal of shedding pounds and jump start your fitness during the next few weeks. This year, follow these three easy steps to “Get Body Beautiful” and stay healthy in the New Year:


Tip #1:  Start with Breakfast


Eating breakfast will help you feel full until your midday snack and may make it easier to stay alert and energized all day.  It’s easy to make a fast and nutrition cooked breakfast with a few wholesome ingredients. Start with a slice of extra lean canadian bacon, a toasted whole grain english muffin and a grilled, poached or boiled egg. The grains, fiber and protein to control your appetite and boost your metabolism with lots of flavor at fewer than 300 total calories.

Tips #2: 10 Min. Workout Sessions


Just like any other appointment, schedule short 10 minute strength workouts to build lean muscle necessary to keep your body burning calories and cardiovascular activity to stay heart healthy. In order to achieve a total body workout, begin with a set of 25 repetitions of lower, upper and core body movements using light hand weights. The key is to perform basic exercises (squats, chest presses and lunges) as a circuit to achieve a high intensity session, three days per week. Alternate strength workouts by walking during the course of the day. A few laps around the parking lot during lunch or walking the neighborhood before your evening meal.

Tip #3: Fill Up Early on Water

Grab a bottle of water on the go or start filling up your water bottle in the morning to help you fill full and avoid extra drink calories that you can save for snacking or a holidaymeal. You will need to drink half your body weight in oz. of water each day or target 5 – 6 bottles. One handy trick is to buy a 64 ounce water jug and fill it up in the morning or simply grab a few extra bottles to drink in your car by the end of the day.
