'LUV' movie review

LUV
Stars:  Common, Michael Rainey Jr., Dennis Haysbert, Meagan Good, Danny Glover

When you’re an 11-year-old boy without parental guidance, you soak up love and attention wherever you can get it. Woody (Michael Rainey Jr.) adores Vincent (Common) his ex-convict uncle, so he’s thrilled when he gets a chance to hang out with him and learn a few life lessons. Lesson No. 1 comes quickly. Don’t hang out with criminals. Vincent has convinced Woody that he’s seen the error of his drug-dealing past and he’s making moves to be a legit businessman. But there always seems to be that one last thing you have to do before you close the chapter on your criminal past. Unfortunately (although some might consider it fortunate) for Woody, Uncle Vincent gives him a lesson on how to be a man with a foot on your neck. Rainey is the best thing about this film. All you need is love, right? p.d. lee
