A group of friends gathers at a cabin in an off-the-grid location. Of course they do. Because the only place where supernatural beings can come to life is in the woods. The better for muffling all that screaming that will soon commence. One of the victims, er, vacationers, finds a creepy book titled Book of the Dead. Side note: If you are in a remote location, and you find a book with that title, or one approximating it, don’t open it. Of course the character does. Another side note: If you find said tome, and you can’t resist opening it, definitely don’t read it. Aloud. Unfortunately the poor dope in the film didn’t get the memo, but his loss is your gain as the horror of the Book of the Dead is unleashed. –p.d. lee
