Stone Erickson is a phenomenal 15-year-old author, who at the age of 14, wrote his first sci-fi thriller titled, Black Angel.  The novel, which is about a troubled teen experiencing abuse at both home and school, takes readers on a journey from defeat to triumph.

Having been on shelves only a week, Erickson has already managed to make Amazon’s best-sellers list for new authors.

How does it feel to join the ranks of the youngest authors in the country?

It feels pretty amazing; I didn’t really expect this.  I knew I wanted to be an author, I just didn’t think I would be so young when it all happened.  I didn’t know if I was good enough just yet but apparently I am because it all worked out. I’m pretty excited.

How did you come up with the concept for your book?

I wanted to write a book where the main character had to struggle.  So with the character Solomon, he had to dig himself out of a tough situation; where he was able to create a good life for himself in the end. The concept came from things that happened in my life, as well as things that I’ve witnessed with family and friends. I saw that even though bad and sad things happen to them, they all managed to move forward and get past the unfortunate moments. Through all of these experiences I was able to create Black Angel.

Was the writing period for the book a long one?

It didn’t take very long. I actually began the writing process in the 8th grade after finishing my CRCT (math practice) test early. I couldn’t leave out of class, so I just started writing in my spare time.  It took about a month or two for me to finish the writing part and from there it went to editing.

What messages do you want people to take away from your book?

The overall message I wanted people to get out of Black Angel is to never give up and always keep trying. Life is always going to be full of trials but if you have the ability to look past that and continue to move forward, you will be able to reach a better place in the end.
