Tony Stark/Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) faces The Mandarin (Oscar winner Ben Kingsley affecting a querulous sotto voce) in the latest installment of the Iron Man franchise. The Mandarin is much more powerful than Stark’s previous nemesis, and somehow manages to stay a step ahead of Iron Man at every turn. Stark struggles to save the world while trying to keep his personal piece of heaven, girlfriend Pepper Potts (no, seriously, that’s her name; and no, she is not a stripper) safe from harm.
All superheros have a weakness; Stark’s love for Pepper (Gwyneth Paltrow) just might be his undoing. But we seriously hope not, otherwise we won’t get to see a fourth installment. And that would be a pity. X-rated for being extra entertaining. –p.d. lee
