Frank Lautenburg, oldest U.S. senator, dies

Frank Lautenburg dead at 89

Reps for Frank Lautenburg have confirmed that the U.S. Senator has died. Lautenburg was a liberal Democrat from New Jersey who served in World War II.

He passed away Monday from complications with pneumonia. He was 89-years-old.


Prior to his death Lautenburg announced that he would be retiring in 2015. New Jersey Govenor Chris Christie will appoint his replacement.
