Name: Anthony West

Company: PDN

Title: Founder

Why did you feel that there was a need for the PDN site?

Many business owners in Houston have become accustomed to using Google Places, Foursquare and Yelp to connect with other local businesses. These sites, although helpful, are very limited when it comes to including contact information for the owners and company distributors. These sites only allow you to do so much, and as an entrepreneur I noticed how difficult it can be to navigate through the business cards and Facebook pages resulting in no solid networking leads. Ultimately, I felt that there was a present networking void for Houston business owners and I set out to create PDN.

What sets PDN apart from other sites?

The beauty of this website is that it allows participants to promote themselves in a fashion that is as unique as the product and service that they are offering I wanted to create a website that allowed people to find almost anything in the Houston metropolitan area. The Promote and Discover networking site known as PDN is designed to help individuals, businesses and organizations discover one another in Houston.

How has the site been received by the Houston business community?

We had an initial test run in fall of 2012 and have had over 1.4 million visits since then. I think that those numbers are a good indicator that people in the Houston area are interested in finding new local things that are going on around them.

What’s next for PDN?

Right now we just want to bring everything about Houston to one location. We are still continuing to offer free membership and [are] adding more networking features in an effort to increase membership and retain our current members.
