Twitter reacts to the sperm theft on BET’s ‘Being Mary Jane’

Spoiler alert. If you haven’t viewed Gabrielle Union’s new BET movie “Being Mary Jane,” you may want to revisit this post later. The film focuses on the tribulations of a single woman attempting to balance her personal and professional life while searching for love. Written by Mara Brock Akil, the movie sets the stage for a TV series that will likely debut in 2014.

Union’s character, Mary Jane Paul, is successful within her career, but remains flawed in other aspects of her life. One of the most notorious scenes occurs in the waning moments of the film.

After sex with an old friend, Mary Jane Paul, who desires to have kids, grabs her sexual partner’s condom. Although he believes she is disposing of it, Paul uses a turkey baster to extract the semen, places it in a container and stores it in the freezer.

The scene caused a huge stir on Twitter.
