Blacks who support George Zimmerman

joe oliver 2An African American coming out in favor of accused murderer George Zimmerman is practically tantamount to political and career suicide, which is why so few blacks have publicly thrown their support behind the volunteer neighborhood watchman who admittedly shot and killed Trayvon Martin in February 2012 in Sanford, Fla.

Even white celebrities and dignitaries who believe Zimmerman is innocent, sans the likes of Bill O’Reilly and Sean Hannity, have not come out in support of Zimmerman in a public capacity because the inflammatory nature of this racially-tinged case could cause their words to explode in their faces.

Some blacks, however, possess the intestinal fortitude to articulate their sentiments to the media and other outlets about how they feel regarding George Zimmerman’s guilt or innocence and are not worried about the ramifications.

Take a look at the blacks who support George Zimmerman.

Sad, sad fact is, these brothas are blinded by their OWN bias. The presumption of guilt on the dead kid versus the testimony of a proven liar and 911 call proven assaulter shows that these guys are ignorant as all get out. It’s insulting that this even went to trial. GZ shoulda been under the jail from the week he shot TM

    • Demarcus Kennan on July 11, 2013 at 6:38 pm

      You are a racist. PERIOD.

      • Armed in the Villa on July 12, 2013 at 9:10 am

Eat a dick. Catch a brick. Etcetera, etcetera…

        • Albert8184 on July 15, 2013 at 4:29 pm

The bias is yours. You confirm every single stereotype there is about black people. Of course you think GZ should have been lynched. Because you’re just like the KKK – you’re a racist terrorism supporter. You don’t want the “Dream” the MLK talked about. You want anarchy, law of the jungle and death. And you are willing to destroy your own posterity to get revenge for something that never happened to you.

You look pretty white to me anyway. What percentage are you?

          • Armed in the Villa on July 15, 2013 at 7:42 pm

Very astute of you to notice! I’m Black/Latino so I suppose I could have rooted for either side. I never mentioned race except to call the person in the article “brotha” – I simply said the assumption of guilt was on the dead kid. You saying I confirm every stereotype proves you have already pre-judged me without knowing anything aout me as well… EXACTLY like GZ did.

          • Albert8184 on July 15, 2013 at 11:15 pm

No. I waited for you to speak and show me your heart. Then I judged you by your own words.

          • track32 on July 25, 2013 at 3:19 am

No way of knowing for sure who was at fault.Isn’t the assumption of innocence on the accused? And you want him killed without a trial?! Also, didn’t catch where GZ was proven to be a liar but saw in his background clues that he wasn’t racist. But, who really knows what’s in his heart?

    • Scott on July 24, 2013 at 4:17 pm

Nobody said TM was guilty of anything. You can’t send a man to prison if you can’t prove he is guilty of something. He got out of his truck, which anyone is allowed to do, but there is no proof whatsoever that he went after TM. Black people like to think that GZ was the aggressor but nobody knows and that is why he was acquitted. No different than OJ Simpson and you don’t see white people bitching about that do you? You don’t see white people going after innocent black people because of it do you?

      • Arthur McDonald on August 2, 2013 at 11:21 am

Scott, I’m not saying this to get in any argument with you, or anyone who sees this post, but though Zimmerman was allowed to get out of his truck, he was instructed not to pursue Martin, which he had already said to 911 dispatch that he had been doing…I mean, he WAS going after him, whether violently or otherwise, but the fact remains, that had law enforcement had been allowed to do their job, there wouldn’t have even been an altercation, a young man’s death, and a trial coupled with a media frenzy. Now, I don’t know for SURE who started the actual confrontation, however it was Zimmerman’s fault that there was a confrontation in the first place, and thus, the young man’s blood is forever on his hands. Now, given that the media has blown this to be bigger than is necessary, in the wake of many RECENT atrocities to happen to black Americans such as the Troy Davis incident, a black man sent to prison, proven innocent, and STILL executed….not to mention the many events from the whole of the 20th century up until now, black people are traumatized by whites. Trauma doesn’t justify illegal behavior, but many police officers, judges, and lawyers have wrongfully arrested, shot, killed, accused, incarcerated, and executed MANY an innocent black man, or sometimes, a young boy. I’ve heard some whites say to “just get over it”. It would be a lot easier if these things didn’t keep happening. Just….stop the damn violence….

        • notnextyearagain on August 2, 2013 at 8:38 pm

He wasn’t “instructed not to get out of his truck” at any time. He was advised that they didn’t need him to follow Martin. This is a standard line used by dispatchers and 911. It prevents legal liability. If Zimmerman is not given this disclaimer and murdered then his family may sue since dispatcher did nothing to warn of possible danger.
Martin WAS the aggressor and Zimmerman had every right to walk anywhere in his complex (as Martin did). Martin started the fight and never stopped even though he had clearly beaten Zimmerman badly. Screams and even a neighbor coming outside did not slow Martin down. If not shot he would be in jail now for aggravated assault or attempted murder. And race would have (and did not have) anything to do with it.

    • Edward Reyes on July 24, 2013 at 6:43 pm

you people got the dumbest of reason… you forced Racism on something that was never racial….,like what you Racist black people do all the time….., but this time, your intimidation tactics did not work..

if you idiots really want a fight, then you should have called Zimmerman for who he really is and look like,.. A HISPANIC !! but you monkeys would not do that, cause, you know damn well, that the hispanics will not take the kind of threat you people makes againstr white people…

you people have pullled this kind of stunt all the time….From the Tawana Brawley,Crown heights riot,Lcrosse Rape case etc etc etc…. you people are just using the Racial Agitation to deflect that very stupid and incompetent black man in the white house…

oh and the Black Economic threat in florida ??IS THE BIGGEST JOKE I HAVE EVER HEARD…!!!!!! seriously ?? do you people honestly think that all races are afraid if they dont get any business from black people ?? not all business takes EBT cards… you morons !!!!

      • V on July 25, 2013 at 6:35 am

EBT? I am a cashier at a popular retail store. Most of the folks who I see use EBT are White. Hispanics/Mexicans (some Mexicans do not like to be called Hispanic) are next. I’ve been in retail for four years. Also, I do not know if you are truly a racist, but the language you used in your post e.g “you people” and “monkeys” suggest that you are. I am not a racist, but I too believe GZ racially profiled TM. I understand the verdict. I may not agree with it, but that does not make me into a racist. Not all Blacks are racist. Not all of us use the ‘race card’ to fight our fights. Not all of us follow Sharpton and Jackson. These two men have no HONOR. They hold the title ‘Reverend’. They are suppose to be believers in God, and in the Bible, but they have been known to commit adultery. Sharpton has been in the News with his new girl friend, but yet, he is STILL married. So not all of us (Blacks) support these men. As for Blacks not doing business, money is green. Business owners want to make that green. Blacks have money too. I pay taxes just like you. If a business was making $100,000 LY, but made $50,000 TY, who loses? Do you know for a FACT that the “Black Economic threat” won’t do any harm to businesses there in FL? GZ may have been declared “not Guilty”, but he will forever walk around like he is in a prison.

      • Arthur McDonald on August 5, 2013 at 12:00 pm

Of all the internet-tough-guy shit I’ve heard…this has got to be by far, the thickest poison ever. And for your information, many of us “monkeys” see most hispanics as being in the same oppressive boat as we are. And, most of the time, when race is brought into the discussion, it is not talking about Zimmerman against black people, but instead the systematically white-run courts that will allow for certain crimes toward blacks or blamed on blacks to be swept under the rug. Because we know that, and HAVE known that for a while (probably long before YOU got here, Reyes), we are quick to call people out on their bullshit, whether federal or social. When you have a system that allows for unarmed black civilians (not criminals) to get shot multiple times by law enforcement, or an innocent man on trial for the death of an officer to be executed, how then, can anyone be expected to just blindly trust in a system that clearly has it out for them. Sr. Reyes, you’d better thank your lucky stars that we stand up and say something, because I guaruntee you, if it weren’t “US” it be YOU. And our voice, is on the frontline for making sure that it doesn’t happen to ANY other people of color, whether directly or indirectly. Stop spreading your poison.

LOL @ this guy. “A HISPANIC!!!” Good to see that there are some people out there who gulp down white supremacist Kool-Aid who don’t “fit the profile”.

    • bonniewheeler on July 24, 2013 at 10:23 pm

So sad that Travon decided to attack Zimmerman – It was the drugs that caused and he had a big problem. That’s why I am saying ti was the drug dealer who caused Travon’s death. I would have done the same thing that Zimmerman did in protecting myself against someone who attacked me. Zmmerman was legally right. Travon was not legally right on two counts 1. He Attacked that was illegal.
      2. He was on an illegal mind altering drug
Zimmerman was correct legally. One has the right to protect himself. The courts decided so there is nothing else to be said. The courts have spoken.

      • DB on August 5, 2013 at 3:23 pm

How do you know that Trayvon attacked Zimmerman? Because GZ said so? Zimmerman’s fathered is a retired judge. Do you think GZ did not get coached or even have the knowledge of what to say to cover his a$$? What if GZ admitted he made a mistake. He’d be in jail…..period. Now do YOU think GZ would have exited his truck if he didn’t have a gun?

  2. Caydence James on July 8, 2013 at 8:06 pm

Larry Elder is an idiot! The Stand Your Ground law in Florida is for people who are defending his/her own property – like in your home! Not walking around a neighborhood, when you’re not even scheduled to be on neighborhood watch with a gun that you weren’t supposed to be carrying (under the neighborhood watch rules) and ignoring authorities when they TELL you not to DO anything!
This wouldn’t make sense to anyone if this kid were white and the idea tha this Uncle Ruckus ignored ALL of that and applied “stand your ground” in the wrong way to defend this overzealous murderer is a testament to the issues black people have from slavery on down to today.

    • Demarcus Kennan on July 11, 2013 at 6:37 pm

What you really are calling him is an “Uncle Tom” because you are ignorant ghetto trash scum that makes black people look bad.

      • Caydence James on July 12, 2013 at 4:41 am

Oh yes DEMARCUS (LOL! if that isn’t a stereotypical name!) That’s GOT to be it. I’ve GOT to be ignorant, ghetto trash scum because afterall… know me right?

Dumbass….go sit down somewhere….. it’s quite obvious that you’re a white boy posing as a black boy (definitely not a man) or playing laptop internet thug) because no black person in their right mind would come out with something that asinine as a response to an intellectual comment!

*by the way asinine means “utterly foolish”*

If by chance you’d like to redeem yourself then try focusing on the TOPIC….for instance, I noticed that you couldn’t even disprove my comment about what “Stand Your Ground” actually means….but I’m the ignorant, ghetto trash?

Well at least this alleged “ignorant, ghetto trash” can actually make this statement putting the commas in the appropriate place AND can actually come up with a response related to the issues at hand. So if I decide – with My oh- so -far-from-ghetto-FSU Masters Degree having ass – to have an opinion on a man who misuses the “Stand Your Ground” defense, I am definitely within my right.

Even a little ghetto name having boy such as yourself can read. Please refer to how the “Stand Your Ground” doesn’t count if the person who is using it was the one that started the confrontation in the first place. That, little man, would be George Zimmerman.

        Now go read a book.

      • Dr. Claw on August 6, 2013 at 7:28 am

Maybe we should start calling him UNCLE DEMARCUS.

    • Guest on July 23, 2013 at 12:36 am

You are wrong about Elder. He made good choices in life. People are jealous. Stand Your Ground was something Senator Obama was all for. Seek and ye shall find. More blacks have used that law in self-defense in FL than whites. Slavery exists when the Saudis bring their Kenyan and Sudanese “housekeepers” to the US in 2013 and don’t pay them or let them leave. But Islam is popular among American blacks even with the Koran stating that black faces are sent to hell. Go figure.

      • avnrulz on July 24, 2013 at 2:05 pm

Funny how Obama was for ‘Stand your ground’ when in IL, but now against it as pres.

      • track32 on July 25, 2013 at 3:46 am

True. Caydence – I thought the same thing before the trial but it doesn’t have to be on your property – it is for just walking around too (although, using it as a defense would probably be more successful on your own property or in your car ). Prior to the law you had a duty to retreat before resorting to violent self-defense. Stand Your Ground allows the use of force without first attempting to run away – it revokes your duty to retreat

    • LOLO on July 24, 2013 at 3:11 pm

He didn’t claim Stand Your Ground. Do you know any of the FACTS of this case or do you just want to make noise, “I’m a victim”

    • track32 on July 25, 2013 at 3:27 am

The Stand Your Ground Law never came into play in this case nor was it used by the defense. But, it has been used by African Americans way more than other groups. It has kept many hardworking African Americans out of prison when they were just protecting themselves, family, and property from some punk.

  3. BeaveVillage on July 8, 2013 at 10:04 pm

Blacks without the Facts are so racist in this case it’s unbelievable. Open your eyes, research the facts and realize that Trayvon wasn’t the sweet innocent 12 year old CNN tells you he is.

    • Cece Duvall on July 11, 2013 at 12:11 pm

How are they racist? People abuse the hell out of that word! I think Zimmerman definitely racially profiled but I don’t think he’s racist.
And yeah so Trayvon wasn’t an innocent 17 year old….and? Does that make his life less valuable?

      • Bubbles70 on July 12, 2013 at 3:42 pm

I don’t understand why people think George Zimmerman racially profiled Trayvon Martin. He did not call and say a black guy looks suspicious. He said there was a suspicious guy. The dispatcher asked him what race the suspicious person was, and at first he said he thought he was black, only to confirm it later when he got a better look as Martin was coming toward him. If the person was white or Hispanic, he would have said that. It was dark and raining, so I’m sure he was not out looking for a black person to profile. I’m tired of people on one side saying that this was racially motivated, and of the people on the other side saying that Martin was a thug and deserved what he got. This was a terrible tragedy, and yes, could have been prevented by both people, but things happened the way they did, and unfortunately a young man is dead. When I first heard that a young black man was shot by a neighborhood watch captain, I was upset thinking this was racially motivated, because that is how the media made it sound, but as I heard more about what happened and got the facts, my mind was changed. I have been following the trial closely, and based on the facts, I believe Zimmerman should not be found guilty. While people try to demonize him, he is not a bad person. He has a conscience and was very remorseful when he found out that he had killed someone … something he is going to have to live with for the rest of his life. He is also such a hated person by so many, he will have to live his life in hiding. Tell me, is that not just as bad as going to prison? Sadly, there will be no winners in this case.

        • Cece Duvall on July 12, 2013 at 8:25 pm

He will be fine, very likely some death threats, but after a while, he’ll be living with the same freedom as Casey Anthony.

But you are right, no one has proved that he is guilty of racial profiling. And even if he is that is perfectly legal. I can’t speak to his heart or his “guilt” (I don’t mean that sarcastically, I just really don’t know the man), but I don’t think the state has done a good enough job of proving 2nd degree murder.

          • Albert8184 on July 15, 2013 at 4:34 pm

It’s a moot point because there is no law against what GZ did – only profiling policy against police officers using it to harass citizens because they fit a racial profile and to unlawfully stop them with no suspicions.

GZ described a suspect to the police. He didn’t STOP or DETAIN anyone on the basis of a profile. He followed a suspicious person who matched a description, and phoned the police.

          • Hopeful on July 15, 2013 at 11:44 pm

There is a law against what he did and perhaps the Justice Dept will be the end to his life, I do believe if found guility of a hate crime resulting in death, he can get the death penalty..Put that in your pipe and smoke it…

        • V on July 25, 2013 at 6:56 am

The reason why I think GZ racially profiled TM was what he said next after his statement of he (TM) looked suspicious (I am not quoting): These punks always get away. There may have been more to those words. TM was common in that neighborhood. There have been some robberies in the past in that area, and it was said the robbers were Black. This is why I believe he was racially profiling TM. Was there proof? No. It is what I believe, but because I believe this does not make me into a racist (I am Black). Also, racially profiling does not make you into a racist either. If a call came in to the police that a Asian man shot twenty people, and he is still out there in area x, every cop would probably look at every Asian man until they find the one who did the shooting. That will not make the PD a racist unit. There may be some folks in the PD who are racist, but not all.

          • V on July 25, 2013 at 6:58 am

I made a mistake in line five in should read: not common in the neighborhood.

          • Suprenna Rushing on July 25, 2013 at 9:55 am

GZ did use the word “punks”, but that doesn’t mean he was racially profiling. There are a lot of white punks out there too believe me, I supervised thousands of them in the department of corrections. He saw a suspicious person period and he was concerned. It’s sad a boy lost his life. But allowing government to take away our right to defend ourselves is not going to change the fact that he died

          • V on July 25, 2013 at 11:56 am

Suprenna it was not a single event that made me think GZ racially profiled TM it was a combination of the events.

          • notnextyearagain on August 2, 2013 at 9:11 pm

Yes … punks are punks and they do not limit themselves to any race. He also said a$$holes and every race has those too.

          • notnextyearagain on August 2, 2013 at 9:07 pm

As I mentioned in another post. This neighborhood was 20% black and yes the breakins where they caught the burglars were black but ALL of these guys lived outside the complex and I read that Zimmerman in an earlier call to police had spoke of “outsiders”. He was neighborhood watch and one of the things they tell you to do is to get to know (look at) the faces of your neighbors and remember them. And yes I agree that racially profilng does NOT make you a racist. Who doesn’t cringe when boarding a plane when someone else is boarding who is obviously from the middle east. May not be right to be that way but human nature to judge everyone in life by race, appearance, or even just the expression on their face.

          • Griz2000 is forever my slave on August 2, 2013 at 9:51 pm

“ALL of these guys lived outside the complex”

Eh, that’s not correct. The guy that was caught in the robberies, lived in the neighborhood.

      • Albert8184 on July 15, 2013 at 4:32 pm

How? By drawing lines in the sand based on race. You’re entire perspective here is ruled by mob mentality. You don’t have the courage or the character to consider this issue outside the bounds of your race fears. You would do ANYTHING as long as it was required to keep you in the mob’s good graces.

        • Cece Duvall on July 15, 2013 at 5:29 pm

What? Nothing you’ve stated shows that I have a “mob mentality”. Furthermore, I simply stated that 1. I THINK GZ MAY (I amended my original assertion) have been racially profiling Trayvon (which is totally legal if he did) and 2. The whole angel/thug dichotomy doesn’t make Trayvon’s life any less valuable.

          • Albert8184 on July 15, 2013 at 6:36 pm

I should apologize for saying you have the mob mentality, because on a second reading, I don’t think you do, beyond your statement that GZ racially profiled TM, and beyond your biased statements about the value of TM’s life that indicate you just don’t think GZ had a right to defend himself.

The evidence presented at trial indicates 2 things. 1) That Trayvon attacked GZ and was doling out a beating on him when he got shot. 2) That GZ’s claim of self defense can’t be refuted by hard evidence. And all the claims about following, and profiling and not staying in his car, and calling the guy a punk (not even to his face) notwithstanding, TM made a choice to confront GZ and attack him (and allegedly announce that he was going to kill him)

GZ’s life is just as valuable as TM’s. And both of them had a responsibility to place a value on their own lives. Clearly, one was not so cautious in that regard.

          • Cece Duvall on July 15, 2013 at 9:49 pm

No, you misunderstand. I don’t mean that Zimmerman (or Trayvon) didn’t have the right to defend himself, I meant the way Trayvon’s character was called into question as if that somehow meant his life was less worthy. I understand establishing credibility (in case that was to be your rebuttal). I mean you have a case where the only other witness (and I am aware of the neighbors who said they say Trayvon and Zimmerman on top) to the crime is dead. And I agree, both men could have made much better choices that night. If Trayvon just ran or if Zimmerman never got out of the car, he’d probably be alive to see 18. But hey, the jury genuinely believed when Zimmerman put that bullet through his chest, he feared for his life. And the rest is history.

No. Trayvon’s character was not called into question with nearly the fanaticism and hatred that GZ’s character was questioned. GZ was the target of a full scale media campaign the likes of which I have not seen – literally- since the Watergate era.

          • Cece Duvall on July 16, 2013 at 4:17 pm

It was. Depends on which channel you watched. Zimmerman was painted to be a racist by more liberal media and Trayvon was painted to be a thug by more conservative media.

          • Albert8184 on July 16, 2013 at 4:35 pm

Nope. I watched all the networks. Trayvon Martin was NEVER vilified in the media the way GZ continues to be vilified. And actually, it really irritated me that the pro-Zimmerman pundits were so unwilling to go for the jugular on Trayvon the way that Nancy Grace went fo the jugular. GZ was tried and condemned in the media, with the assistance of the government and its lackeys, from the moment the incident became national news. Starting with the falsified 911 tapes broadcast on NBC and other networks. And it goes on. Last night Rachel Jeantel on Piers Morgan insinuating that GZ is a gay rapist. IS. Not was. IS still guilty of being one, today.

          • John Flickinger on July 24, 2013 at 1:02 pm

Something the media has not mentioned but I have heard from several FL. sources that Martin was convicted posthumously of agrevated assault in Zimmerman. Still looking into that. But it happened before this circus trial began.

      • notnextyearagain on August 2, 2013 at 8:54 pm

I think you are wrong that “Zimmerman definitely racially profiled” This complex was mixed and 20% black so Zimmerman saw black teens walking around every day and I’m sure he saw some with hoodies before. He explained more than once that what bothered him about Martin was that Trayvon was standing in the rain on a front lawn of an empty house looking at it. There had been many break ins before and he didn’t recognize Martin (he WAS a visitor). Innocent 17 year old or not what Martin did was beyond a simple fight. Police estimate it may have gone on for up to 110 seconds and all the while Zimmerman was screaming for help. A neighbor came out also but Martin did not let up with the beating. It is remarkable that someone as terrified as Zimmerman was waited so long and took such a beating before he finally used the gun that he had. Think about 110 seconds and how long that would feel like while being attacked. And no one would help you as you screamed for help.

        • Cece Duvall on August 2, 2013 at 9:31 pm

True, I shouldn’t say definitely because I don’t know what was in his heart anymore than you do. I don’t know who threw the first punch, or what Trayvon was doing to make Zimmerman suspicious. I’m not saying Zimmerman is a liar, I’m just saying that I don’t know. I don’t really care about this case, if Zimmerman walks, if he gets killed tomorrow. White people die every day, what is to make his death any different. I just don’t like the assertion that Blacks who think that race was involved are racists. People are so quick to use that word that they’ve completely watered down its meaning.

    • Demarcus Kennan on July 11, 2013 at 6:38 pm

This AA agrees with you. I am ASHAMED of my “community”. Blacks hate each other too so don’t be surprised when they hate Latinos.

    • Caydence James on July 15, 2013 at 9:43 pm

First and foremost, if everyone was judged by what they did before they reached 21 (when going through transitional periods and learning about who they want to be), then you too would probably have some problems in the character department. Were you entirely innocent before 21? No really. ENTIRELY? Probably not, so to ask for him to be innocent up until 17 is ridiculous. As long as the boy didn’t have a criminal record and wasn’t a problem in school, we shouldn’t even be talking about what he’s done before he walked home that day.
Secondly, one doesn’t have to be a saint to have the right to walk home without being accosted. They only need to be legally able to walk in public and not in the commission of a crime. Doesn’t this apply to Trayvon?
Therefore all of this “He wasn’t innocent” stuff doesn’t apply and probably wouldn’t even be considered as a logical argument if he were white. If the victim were white then these same people who claim that blacks are being racist (by the way, look up the word racist because you used it wrong) would then say that we shouldn’t put the victim on trial. BUT because he’s black, many people subconsciously and consciously apply other rules to what he should and shouldn’t be in order to have a right to safety.
So when you say “open your eyes” you should have your eyes open as well. No one forfeits the right to safety unless they aren’t legally allowed to walk in public and unless I’m mistaken, people like Trayvon have had that right since 1865. For you to make excuses like “he wasn’t innocent” as a reason for him to be followed at night and confronted by a an who was NOT law enforcement and then killed sounds more like you’re saying that he didn’t have that right. Think about it.

      • notnextyearagain on August 4, 2013 at 10:07 am

Trayvon wasn’t innocent THAT night. He would have gone to jail if not shot for sure.
I think most folks who talk about TM not being innocent before that night do so as a knee jerk reaction to the original media reports. The ones that said a black kid was gunned down after buying skittles by a crazed white man for no reason. The reports included a picture of a cute 11 year old Trayvon and a overweight scowling Zimmerman.
All this turned out to be untrue and there was much more to the story.
But some folks hold onto that original story and actually prefer it over what the evidence showed to be true.

What does neighborhood watch do? They watch and alert the proper authorities if there is trouble. For him to stand his ground, he would have had to approach Trayvon, with his gun in tow. He went looking for trouble, got it, and regretted it when TM beat him down. Shoulda stayed in the truck and let the cops do what they do.

“Demarcus Kennan” I’m going to need for you to take your ass somewhere else. A person’s opinion has to be racist because they don’t agree with you or other people who are supporting Zimmerman?! I would like for you to place yourself in Trayvon’s parents’ shoes & see how YOU would feel if YOUR son was profiled, attacked, and MURDERED. It doesn’t matter if Zimmerman was Black, White, Hispanic, Asian he still murdered that boy. That’s a FACT! Now, yes, in this case they’re saying it was a race crime. Listen to previous reports saying that Zimmerman called the police multiple times within that month saying that he had seen “suspicious” people (who all happened to be African American). This is upsetting, sickening, & you’re just as much as white washed as these men are. POINT BLANK! You’re insensitive & you CLEARLY have NO life other than to comment on everyone’s post who disagrees with these men. Have a good day- A Black person who happens to like other races… INCLUDING my own 🙂

I have an associate that works in such a facility. The same is true in prison. Therefore, you never know who is on the other end of a computer except to read between the lines and detect any mental instability or criminal behavior.

          • markie71 on July 23, 2013 at 5:13 pm

Good to know! I knew about the prisons, with all the educational classes, they would need computers. I didn’t think mental facilities would or should have them because of the reason you mentioned in your reply.

Why not just call me an “Uncle Tom” why you are at it for not following the lynch mob? Do you seriously think that a 17 year old kid is not capable of being a threat to an adult? You are ignorant than. You are engaged in an unjust lynching and I guarantee you that God will judge you harshly for your hatred and lack of empathy. You are an evil person to the core of your soul. Corrupt and hypocritical as can be. You are clearly a racist.

          • Caydence James on July 12, 2013 at 4:53 am

            Do you seriously believe
that even if the boy did turn on George that he didn’t have a right to do so?
            Do you even read?

Did you not hear that George ZImmerman was a part of the neighborhood watch.
            The Neighborhood Watch’s rules say that you’re;

            1) not supposed to be armed

            2) Not supposed to interfere or engage a criminal if a crime is in progress and
            to call it in.

George Zimmerman broke both of those rules and more…

            1) He ignored the rules and carried a gun

            2) He ignored the law by ignoring the 911 operator who told him NOT to do

            3) He ignored the law and approached and engaged a person who was NOT in the
            commission of a crime.

But somehow you feel that this 17 year old boy being approached by a man with a
gun shouldn’t have felt the need to defend himself? That DESPITE all of the
above, George Zimmerman was well within his rights to kill someone?

Hmmmm… I sure hope you’re not the next person walking down the street in
Florida with a drink in your hand…

You don’t have to be doing anything else, by the way. Just walking. Because according to YOU, that’s
all that’s needed for someone to be justified in killing you.*****

          • notnextyearagain on August 3, 2013 at 7:04 am

Although he was part of neighborhood watch he wasn’t “on duty” at that time. He wasn’t driving around the complex looking for suspicious characters. He was on his way to the store. He carried a gun because of a dog that was acting up in neighborhood. He had every right to do so. And there is no evidence that he “engaged” Martin and no law against it if he had. There are laws about assault though and Martin broke those laws.

          • Caydence James on July 15, 2013 at 9:52 pm

We’d only call you an Uncle Tom if you were actually an African American and the more you write, the less believable that becomes. So no worries… one thinks you’re black, much less an Uncle Tom.

you were doing well until you started talking “facts.” It isn’t fact unless provable and you cannot prove he profiled, attacked (at least 1st), or murdered. Also, how do you know everyone GZ saw on Neighborhood Watch wasn’t African American?

        • notnextyearagain on August 4, 2013 at 10:14 am

Anonymous, what you’ve just wrote is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever read. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having read it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

None of what you have wrote is a FACT. No profiling, no race crime, no attack by Zimmerman, and no murder. These are all things that for whatever twisted reason, make you feel better about it all. But this case had a ton of evidence and none of it supports anything you just wrote.

    • Caydence James on July 15, 2013 at 9:48 pm

Had Zimmerman did what he was told to do by the Neighborhood watch and then the 911 operator, there wouldn’t have been a confrontation by an untrained civilian and we wouldn’t even have to talk about such a senseless killing today.

      • Guest on July 23, 2013 at 12:43 am

After he was told he didn’t need to do that the operator came back on and asked him to keep an eye on him. NBC spliced the tape and played it over and over.

How about these people lose their sons to a man who guns them down and see how they feel. Trayvon was not armed. End of story. They need to know what it feels like to have a murdered love one. Yes, it was murder. The young man was murdered. Just like many of our young people who are murdered. Justice is just a word in America. Obviously, it’s not a concept and it’s not an action.

That “child” was 17 years old….one year away from legally being an adult. That “child” bashed a guy’s head into concrete. That “child” has some serious character flaw issues.

I think you are a corrupt, dishonest hack of a person who has no moral right to judge anyone. You do need to get an education as obviously you have no idea what self defense is, burden of proof, due process or the LAW is.

          • darth vader on July 11, 2013 at 10:17 pm

That “child” was murdered by a man who had no business stalking when the neighborhood and the local police had asked him not to do so. Take a listen to the multiple calls Zimmerman made to the local police in the 18-month period prior to the murder of young Mr. Martin.

          • Guest on July 23, 2013 at 12:59 am

Well we all wish it was Irish guys breaking in the houses. You didn’t listen to all the tape. Afterward, they asked him to keep an eye out on him. NBC sliced the tape and played it over and over again, spliced up to make Zimmerman look worse. Recognize.

“Keeping an eye out” does not mean murder unarmed kids. Period.

          • notnextyearagain on August 3, 2013 at 7:20 am

No murder … defending your life while being viciously attacked. Martin would have gone to jail for the punch that broke Zimmerman’s nose alone. But just breaking the nose wasn’t enough for Martin. He went crazy and wouldn’t stop. There is something seriously wrong with an individual who continues to beat another for that period of time and that vicously.

          • track32 on July 25, 2013 at 4:11 am

that’s why NBC has a huge lawsuit pending

          • Caydence James on July 12, 2013 at 4:59 am

He bashed his head in? That’s funny….the medical reports say that most of his “cuts and abrasions” didn’t appear to be induced by someone else and didn’t match the lesser abrasions he had when they finally brought him in.
By the way, at what time during an attack on your persons are you supposed to fight back? Especially when it’s not a cop who’s attacking you? Just wondering. I’m guessing that If an overweight guy walks up on you that you’ll probably get down on your knees to make it more convenient for him to have his way with you than to fight back, right? You’d NEVER hurt him to get him off of you, right? Maybe I’m wrong but….that’s what it sounds like you were asking of Trayvon that day.

          • alexdifeo on July 15, 2013 at 6:12 pm

Its easy to be an armchair analyst now and say “his cuts weren’t THAT bad”..but when your head is being bashed I’m sure it feels very differently..

I’d rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6, and Zimmerman chose the same path..if he didn’t, maybe he’d end up dead…he defended himself. God will judge him ultimately, we weren’t there..

          • Caydence James on July 15, 2013 at 10:01 pm

With all due respect Alex, this is how people get taken in.
I agree that I’d rather be judged (in this case) by 6 than carried by 6 HOWEVER, did you notice how no one ever considered that this situation could’ve been the other way around? Why is it that no one suspected that Trayvon was trying to defend himself?
After all, he was on his way home and was being FOLLOWED by a man in a car that he didn’t know. Then that man gets out of the car and follows him on foot. This would make ANY person nervous and a boy? Probably defensive. So by the time he was approached, he could rightfully so been on edge.
You also have to remember that 1) this jury had women on it and 2) The prosecution didn’t explain that gashes on the back of GZ’s head didn’t prove self defense; it just proved that he was in an altercation!
More men have fights than women, so most of these women wouldn’t stop to think that just because someone gets gashes on their head during a fight does not prove that the other person STARTED the fight – yet this was the defenses argument,”Look he had gashes so the other guy probably started the confrontation!” It could have just as easily been that Zimmerman (who already told the 911 operator that he was tired of these **** getting away with this) got out of his car, followed Trayvon on foot and Trayvon turned around and asked him what was up and Zimmerman tried to “detain” him. As soon as Zimmerman touches this boy, it’s no longer self defense! With this same scenario, GZ STILL would have those scratches if Trayvon got the better of him and that STILL wouldn’t be self defense if Zimmerman started it.
This is the point. No one knows WHO started it and for these women (who probably have never been in a fight) to feel it was, meant that they had to believe Zimmerman’s story and the proof they used was feeble. With ZImmerman’s attitude jus before he approached Trayvon AND the fear that would be generated from being followed by an unknown person, it’s just a likely that ZImmerman started it…..and THAT is the problem. Scratches don’t prove guilt Scratches just prove that at soe point, he hit the concrete and that’s NOT enough!

          • alexdifeo on July 19, 2013 at 3:05 pm

You’re right, of course that possibility exists that Martin was defending himself. We will never know for certain, but we agree that there certainly was reasonable doubt as to GZ’s guilt.

          • Caydence James on July 20, 2013 at 8:36 am

It’s very true. We don’t know who started it. Tray is dead so he can’t tell us his side of things. The only person that can tell their side is George Zimmerman but he’s the defendant. The defendant with a lot to lose. So wouldn’t it make sense for us to be at least a little wary about what he says? But many people on this thread and in this country do not. From the jury down to the public, many who stand in support of Zimmerman are willing to do so by taking his word at face value ( with no real proof whatsoever) and I have to ask why? See, I’ve watched several trials-live trials-and I have NEVER seen a jury or onlookers put so much stock into what a defendant says and that seems a bit off to me! After all, isn’t he the one being judged?

Please understand this. Almost everyone I’ve spoken to who are upset about this verdict aren’t upset because they think that George Zimmerman should have gotten second-degree murder. We agree that would be ridiculous!!! Second-degree murder insinuates that the person killed someone with forethought and malice and it’s clear that George had no premeditated intentions of actually shooting Trayvon. However, the jurors were offered manslaughter as an option and in the state of Florida (and in most states) involuntary manslaughter means that someone does something without intention, malice, or forethought but their actions (which resulted in a death or deaths) could reasonably be seen as negligible. For instance, if I ran a red light and killed someone, I would do some jail time because I knew at the time that running the red light would be a dangerous action and despite that, I did it anyway and I took someone’s life because of it.

So we don’t quite understand why the jurors didn’t feel like they should give Zimmerman involuntary manslaughter. After all, Zimmerman did SEVERAL things that were clearly negligible. He took his gun out on his neighborhood watch rounds when according to their charter he’s not supposed to do (I am a gun advocate by the way but he should never have agreed to be on neighborhood watch if he felt he needed to carry a gun), he ignored the 911 operator when told not to pursue, he pursued Trayvon in his truck and then continued his pursuit on foot to confront Trayvon KNOWING that he had a gun! All of that alone adds up to someone who was negligible on several different counts and had he done what he was told, the Martin family would still have their son!
It’s just that simple and it’s such a simple concept that when I see people try to reason this out by putting the victim on trial (Trayvon was a thug, he got into a fight in elementary school, he had marijuana in his system, etc.) I feel like they’re purposely derailing the conversation to distract people from what George Zimmerman actually did to contribute to this boy’s death.

I can’t speak for anyone else but as for myself don’t think that the black race is any better than the white race or vice versa- which means that I can’t be categorized as a racist. But I do care for all children and I believe that they all deserve to grow up in a world without fear of being gunned down in the streets. To me that just makes me a humanist and I just wish there were more of us.

          • notnextyearagain on August 3, 2013 at 7:34 am

There was a LOT of evidence in this trial and Zimmerman did not testify. The physical evidence 911 calls from neighbors, etc all fit with Zimmerman’s statement. He should never have been charged with manslaughter according to police and original prosecutor. It was a clear case of self defense and in the end the trial confirmed that.

          • Guest on July 23, 2013 at 1:02 am

Just a point of clarification–on the night of the murder, George Zimmerman was half the size he is now. He gained 120 pounds.

In my opinion, the significant weight gain was strategic, just like the Defense’s “knock knock joke” during the opening statements.

          • notnextyearagain on August 3, 2013 at 7:37 am

Zimmerman was a small guy that night (Martin was thin and tall). It would have been a better defense to lose weight than gain it. Maybe Zimmerman eats more when stressed and locked up in his home.

          • MamaChitChatChitterling on August 3, 2013 at 4:36 pm

I do agree that he could have packed on the pounds due to stress–but it certainly didn’t hurt to look like an unfit, slow-moving doughboy to the jury and to the public at large. I’ve read comments from others that seem to support the effectiveness of that strategy, because they consistently referred to how he looked and moved in court a year later, rarely ever acknowledging how he appeared the night of the shooting. He seemed fit and trim enough to hold his own as an adult man with more than a decade on the teenager; however, I know the defense’s strategy was also to belittle and minimize the impact of his three-times-a-week Mixed Martial Arts training, but that seemed disingenuous to me. Ultimately, it worked in his favor.

          • notnextyearagain on August 3, 2013 at 7:28 am

Serious Head trauma doesn’t require broken skin. But he had that which supported his testimony. And the picture by the neigbor showed at least 3 cuts and lots of blood.
And you just made up that medical reports nonsense (they never say things like didnt appear to be induced by someone else).
Zimmerman wasnt “fat” then and he was much smaller than Martin. All evidence showed Zimmerman was never on Martin. Why make things up?

He’s a troll. Probably a little white boy in a wheel chair or with a severe acne problem who gets no attention in school. Just look at the way he speaks and how his answers lack facts and validity! Poor thing! He is to be pitied. Let’s just pray that he doesn’t breed!

Your educated thoughts illuminate why our education system is in the deplorable state it is in.

          • Raven priestess on July 23, 2013 at 10:51 pm

Our education system is NOT in a deplorable state because of an excellent teacher such as myself. It is the bureacrats who tout no child left behind and yet they allow the disparity persists amongst the different states and local governments. Thank you for demonstrating to everyone how we need to fight ignorance. If you are not a minor then it is a shame that a grown “person” resorts to name calling and put downs. Funny how you change names and yet your comments still have the stench of idiocy ALL over it.

          • markie71 on July 23, 2013 at 11:41 pm

I do not know what you are talking about. I have not changed my name in years of posting under this handle. Deducing what you have just posted here, I realize my name has been hijacked. Do you know what a troll is? Don’t be funny and say it’s me, far from it! I do not call names and I think you and I have been had. I only have one question, why do you think I posted under a “changed name”? Any further posts you get will not be from me as I have no further interest in this site.

He was armed with a sidewalk…Listen it is a bad situation but it isn’t as black and white as you make it out to be raven. Truth be told if it was my son you bet your ass I’d want revenge, but that wouldn’t make me right…

    • guest on July 23, 2013 at 12:53 am

My aunt was killed by a black man because she and her daughter were the only remaining whites in their neigborhood. How come you don’t see white people in the projects? Because they get beat up and the rest know we can’t live there. Then you mistakingly don’t think white people are poor also! It goes both ways. NBC spliced the 911 tape and Zimmerman is suing. Then Martin’s parents can sue him and get the NBC money. The Home Owners Association already settled with 1 mil.

      • Raven priestess on July 23, 2013 at 3:38 pm

Sorry to hear that you lost a loved one to senseless violence. I would imagine that is how Trayvon Martin’s parents feel.

    • notnextyearagain on August 3, 2013 at 7:11 am

Trayvon assaulted and then slammed Zimmerman’s head onto concrete which would be attempted murder. End of story. It was NOT murder it was self-defense. Zimmerman had no escape route once he was down and Martin would not stop even though Zimmerman screamed over & over and a neighbor came out. It became a case of either Martin’s life or Zimmermans and GZ not only had the right to defend his life .. but duty to do so. Martin attacked him for a long time before Zimmerman pulled out his gun.

  7. Demarcus Kennan on July 11, 2013 at 6:39 pm

It’s nice to see that a few fellow blacks are extreme racists against a Latino man. The AA “community” has set itself back once again with it’s racism against everyone and anyone that is NOT it.

  8. Demarcus Kennan on July 11, 2013 at 6:41 pm

I’m glad to see that there are SOME fellow blacks that have some sense unlike the racist ghetto trash anti-white, anti-Latino trash commenting on this blog. My, my brothers and sisters, do you all look like racist fools!

    • figarella on July 11, 2013 at 9:12 pm

Dear Demarcus, you clearly should get some life about yourself. You sound like a kid with a weak thesis about racism with no explanation. You put forth no argument about why you think anyone who blames Zimmerman, is racist. Please explain yourself or just shut your sniveling down.

      • Demarcus Kennan on July 11, 2013 at 10:16 pm

“Get some life about” myself? Right. That makes sense. Is that you, Rachel Jeantel? Wait…you can’t read. I forgot. It’s pretty simple why you are racist. You refuse to believe the man’s story whatsoever and so you concoct thesis based on nothing that are contrary to the facts. Why? Seems like the answer is pretty obvious to me…you have something against whites and/or Latinos. Why?

See, you can preach anti-racism ALL DAY LONG…but what you need to figure out is that if you are a hypocrite (which you are), no one is going to stop disliking black folks…because no one likes hypocrites.

You are a racist. You are a bigot and you are just plain ignorant and part of a lynch mob.

        • Caydence James on July 12, 2013 at 5:01 am

Oh yeah. You’re white. A Black person (regardless of their socio-economic background) would know what “Get some life about yourself” that means. You just played yourself….by the way, that means that you “outed yourself” and we know who you are now.

          Goodnight Pillsbury Dough Boy! 🙂

          • Demarcus Kennan on July 15, 2013 at 8:45 pm

            You are racist trash.

          • Caydence James on July 15, 2013 at 10:05 pm

Good comeback. That clearly took a lot of thought. 😉

          • Demarcus Kennan on July 15, 2013 at 8:48 pm

No Caydence, I am just not ghetto trash like you are. Ghetto trash black folks might know what that ignorant, ebonics term means…but educated and connected black folks (you know, the future), just don’t. It’s a darn shame that you are such disgusting trash.

          • Caydence James on July 15, 2013 at 10:11 pm

Again, you keep using the word “ghetto” much like many (but not all) white people who are limited on their knowledge of black people and tend to use this to describe us all. It’s as far as their limited minds take them because they really NEED to feel that every black person has to be from the ghetto. After all, if some have escaped then they haven’t done their job, right?
So this use of the word “ghetto” further sounds like you’re more than likely a white guy who likes to troll AA topics online and pose as a black person who’s in total agreement with all things white just to get a response! But each time you talk, you illuminate that even your experiences aren’t black! See, there are things that black people know that you can’t seem to put your finger on and you’re also soooo very careful in not giving any real detail about you mean almost like you’re afraid to give yourself away!!!! LOL! It’s like the devil trying to be Gandhi. He can talk like him but if he says too much, he’ll be found out QUICKLY!
LOL! So yeah find someone else to play with because can’t win here. You say too little and you look foolish. You say too much and you give yourself away. Go home little boy. LOL!

          • markie71 on July 15, 2013 at 10:41 pm

My educated black friends speak as I do, and that is to be understood by all of society. You are ghetto and that isn’t going to cast you in any good light. If that is what you want, so be it (don’t pretend and never deny that I am white…I think you are condescending to Demarcus. BTW, I have never come across a white man named Demarcus)

          • Caydence James on July 16, 2013 at 3:34 am

I wasn’t even talking to you so why are you talking to me about someone else. I am being condescending to “Demarcus” because from the time he started commenting he has been nothing but disrespectful to everyone who has a different opinion from him. If he cannot have a civil conversation with people without attacking them then he deserves to be attacked in kind.

Incidentally, I don’t need to live in the “ghetto” to understand what someone from the ghetto might be saying. All I need to do is be able to relate and to understand that there is NO shame in a group of people talking in a different dialect; especially when those people have been stripped of a language of their own. If you know anything about history then you’d know that any group of people who do not have a dialect will ultimately create one and as much as you may be ashamed of it, that’s what they’ve done.
As for myself, my understanding of slang has not stopped me in the least bit from earning my Bachelors in Computer Forensics nor has it stopped me from interacting with people from all walks of life. I may not agree but I can argue a point without attacking someone’s character with unrelated issues like calling them ghetto…..only ghetto people do that *wink*. I also do not go to pages and disrespect people when they haven’t disrespected me….yet this “Demarcus” person has done just that. So if he has a problem with me, he knows how to answer for himself! Your answering for him does nothing but confirm your belief that he is not man enough to stand on his own. I appreciate your concern but if he’s going to attack me like he did in his original response to me, then let him man up and answer for himself. Thank you. *****
PS> I’ve never met a white boy named Demarcus either but I’m also not so naïve that I believe that everyone that posts a comment signs it with their true name.

            Read a friggin’ book.

And I have come across plenty of white people–men and women, mostly trolls–who routinely create fake avatars, performing their broke down approximations of “black” in a TRANSPARENT and OBVIOUS attempt to espouse racist and self-loathing views via sock puppets.

            This is nothing new.

How long have you been on the internet?

            Get a clue.

          • Guest on July 23, 2013 at 1:14 am

See right there. You think its okay to call racist names like cracker and pillsbury dough boy. White people don’t have to worry about being “outed.” There is nothing to hide. The whole world is constantly being told what our faults are. But you can’t admit yours. You worry about one boy because a white man killed him when black people kill black children every single day in Chicago. You don’t even know their names. Keep the concentration on whitey. Keep picking on honky. That way YOU NEVER GET ANYWHERE IN LIFE. Sounds like a rich white man’s plan for foolish folks. But really its you, Boo.

          • Caydence James on July 24, 2013 at 4:41 am

Yes, when I see trolls who are paid to troll black websites to derail conversations by calling people names or introducing irrelevant issues like black on black crime, then I will antagonize them with name calling – because then THEY become the ones that are defensive instead of it being the other way around.
What? You thought I didn’t know what you were? But anyway, thank you for allowing me to prove my point. *wink*
Now on to more productive conversations.

        • figarella on July 12, 2013 at 10:02 am

Young silly man, you are confused. It’s clear we can read since we’re having a conversation here. You still made no valid points to why I am racist and you possibly should look up the meaning of “FACTS.” Since you weren’t there to witness the altercation, everything you hear is hearsay.

You pretend you were there to witness the fight between them and your refusal to even consider that Zimmerman was wrong shows you are racist and ignorant. There are no facts here aside from TM getting gunned down by a man who followed him in a truck and confronted him for whatever reason. Everything here is hearsay, its only a fact when it’s documented.

Secondly, Zimmerman is not Latino or however you see him. He is a mixed race man. The reason we call these guys in the list shameful is that they will believe any other race over their fellow blacks because they dislike their own culture and schmooze with the new slave owners to advance their pitiful lives and careers.

None of us were there to witness this but by his own admission, Zimmerman approached TM and afterward, the defense built on to the story. I never said I didn’t believe Zimmerman but he admits to going against cops orders and following Trayvon. White, black, latino or native american, if someone approaches me who doesn’t have the authority can catch this ass whooping. I’m no racist and I know right from wrong.

Zimmerman was wrong and so are you. Maybe someone will follow you around one day, confront you and you have to fight. What are you gonna do, sit there and get beat down or defend yourself. I hope my guess is right.

          • markie71 on July 15, 2013 at 6:50 pm

Zimmerman is 1/4 Peruvian, 1/4 black and 1/2 Jewish white

          • Caydence James on July 15, 2013 at 10:18 pm

It doesn’t really matter what color they were. Had they both been the same color it would still be just as wrong.
No one deserves to be followed, confronted and gunned down on their way home. No one was around when Zimmerman showed up and in order for Zimmerman to claim self defense, he should’ve been made to prove that he didn’t START the confrontation. If he started it, he could get his ass beat down and he still wouldn’t be able to use that as a defense. Since the defense didn’t really prove that he started it (but they confused the issue with the 6 women on the jury by implying it over and over again) it’s just as likely that Zimmerman started it by trying to detain Trayvon, Trayvon responded, got the better of him and then GZ shot him. That is NOT self defense.

          • markie71 on July 15, 2013 at 10:26 pm

Trayvon followed GZ as he was returning to his vehicle, or don’t you know that yet? Also, the defense does NOT have to prove their case! That is the onus of the prosecutors. Never in the history of American law has a defense brought any prosecutor to court!

          • MamaChitChatChitterling on July 21, 2013 at 8:52 am

Zimmerman wrote WHITE on all of his job applications–including the police officer one which was rejected. His mother DOES NOT identify as Afro-Peruvian, and they are both eager to pass as white here in America. Sanford police identified him, “the shooter,” as WHITE.

If you want to know why Zimmerman chose to self-identify as WHITE, go ask him.

          • Guest on July 23, 2013 at 1:37 am

Maybe because there isn’t a damn thing wrong with being a caucasian! Trayvon Martin, at least he is remembered. Do you even know who Eve Carson is? No, and you probably never heard of the white couple in Knoxville. Lots and lots of us white people are murdered by blacks but hypocrites like NBC don’t talk about and do you think history is an excuse to hurt us now? Well, white people were driven out of Africa and sent to Europe where it was cold. Tit for tat. Is that how it is going to be. Or can it all just stop?! God, please make it all stop!

          • notnextyearagain on August 3, 2013 at 8:04 am

Links ??? it sounds like you made this all up. But if true this would only matter to a racist non-white person.

          • MamaChitChatChitterling on August 3, 2013 at 3:20 pm

Says the racist white person who is too lazy (typical!) to do their own research to avoid their own embarrassment. Easier to fire off a flippant and rude response rather than smartly checking, eh?

There is no need to make up what is already now part of the public record. Zimmerman’s race and description was included in the Sanford police records. These have been online for quite some time, as is nearly every other aspect of the case (recordings and transcripts of the 911 calls, police interviews, videos, even the recording of Zimmerman’s jail phone calls to his wife that got them charged with perjury, etc.). The print media has also covered how Zimmerman self-identified in his educational and job applications, including when he applied to be a police officer (and was declined). And even the police officer who stopped him for speeding in Texas called him in as a “white male, last name, Zimmerman.” There is video and audio of this incident covered on ABC News–or have you only recently crawled from under a rock to join the conversation?

Do your research and do not get back. If you disapprove of how Zimmerman has chosen to self-identify, or how others, particularly law enforcement, has chosen to identify him, take that up with someone else.

          • notnextyearagain on August 4, 2013 at 9:55 am

I am a WHITE racist because I asked for links for on your outrageous statement about ALL job applications. There are none. And why would there be? Who cares about job applications and who could find out EVERY place Zimmerman has ever applied. He probably doesn’t even remember ALL of them.
You capitalized WHITE in your original 3 times as if this is proof Zimmerman is evil. You just make crap up and throw in a few racist statements
The case was never about white or black. But some get comfort (and joy) making it into a race issue.

          • MamaChitChatChitterling on August 5, 2013 at 1:56 am

Apparently you are a LAZY and INEPT white racist because this isn’t some kind of conspiracy theory. Go do your own research–like I did mine–and then don’t believe your own ‘lying eyes’ if you choose. Zimmerman described himself as WHITE on his police application–that was rejected–and his school application and his job application. The Sanford police identified him as white as well. And most importantly, ONLY A FEW DAYS AGO, a total stranger who apparently didn’t recognize him at first, identified George Zimmerman as a “white male” when he stopped him for speeding in Texas. Go watch the video–and yes, your total backpedaling by OMITTING THIS is transparent.

Of course, you skipped right over all of this, with no acknowledgement. Poor thing–so invested in Zimmerman being white. How will you justify your BS now?

And then, after not being able to admit you are wrong (typical), you flow right into the predictable, deny, attack, and claim yourself a victim mode.

The case began with racial profiling, so you can’t throw that out now because it doesn’t fit your point of view. But what “some get comfort (and joy) from is demonizing a dead teen and trying to shoehorn a vigilante with a documented adult criminal past (and a pending perjury trial) into the role of a hero. That kind of distortion of justice is bound to be ill-fitting.

          • notnextyearagain on August 5, 2013 at 5:25 am

Neither lazy or inept … I called you out because you said you said Zimmerman claimed to be white on EVERY application he ever filled. You cannot and do not know this.
I also called you out because you feel being WHITE is a issue … a great EVIL in your twisted racist mind. That is why you insist it is about race . You can never see beyond it. Not even the prosecution termed it as a racial case even though it could benefit them. Because there is no evidence or inkling that it ever was racial expect in the twisted minds of the ill-informed.

          • MamaChitChatChitterling on August 5, 2013 at 1:51 pm

You are still avoiding admitting you are wrong and that is typical. The fact is, Zimmerman self-identifies as white, so what exactly is your problem with that? That fact clearly makes *you* uncomfortable, since it totally problematizes your presumptions and point of view. Now, you attempt to make some great leap that white equals evil. No, dimwit, racism equals evil. And you are not even worth the time or energy to discuss why the prosecution may have made a strategic choice not to overtly discuss race–even though it is a “racial” case from the jump based on Zimmerman’s choices that night, and even though the prosecution had already fought to use language specifically stating that Zimmerman “racially profiled” the unarmed teen, but lost that right. Instead, the compromise was that they could refer to “profiling.”

          • Guest on July 23, 2013 at 1:31 am

They should cut him some slack for being 1/4 black like all the blacks in Chicago who kill kids every day that no one bothers to name on the News. They definately have cut them some slack. But folks can’t sweep their own doorsteps. They cant recognize Chicago is their self-imposed genocide.

All white people should just throw up our hands in surrender and say okay we are racists. Black people aren’t going to be happy as long as we are trying to make them happy. I’ve been trying to be a good white person since say 1960 when I born. I went to school and they showed me pictures in the history books and said “Look what you did to us!” I swore I wasn’t even there but they still bullied me anyway.Thats what it is and that is why long, long ago white people were driven from Africa into Europe where its cold.

You are not prepared to take care of yourselves you plan to steal what you need in order to survive but once you steal your neighbors food and kill him you will then have no one to grow food for you no knowledge of how to do it and no food. What will you do then? Starve.

          • notnextyearagain on August 3, 2013 at 7:53 am

There is NO evidence to anything that you just wrote. There was no “orders” from the police not to follow. And there was no “admission” by GZ and Zimmerman never said he approached or confronted Martin. And no evidence to suggest that he did. You just make things up and state them as facts. There is a LOT of evidence that supports Zimmerman’s statement that Martin attacked him and eye-witness accounts of Martin beating him. There is physical proof of it as well.
There was no reason for Martin to attack Zimmerman like that. You suggest that you would attack anyone approaching you without authority so obviously you do not know right from wrong. You don’t have a clue what is right and what is wrong.

  9. Bessie Timms-Taylor on July 12, 2013 at 11:59 am

as for his friend I don’t believe him that GZ was crying. The interview with Sean Hannity on Fox News showed no remorse, that it was God’s Plan and he wouldn’t change a thing.

    • MamaChitChatChitterling on July 21, 2013 at 9:19 am

Zimmerman could not muster a tear or perform “remorse” because he is a sociopath.

  11. EnCognito_8619 on July 12, 2013 at 12:11 pm

It’s becoming clear to me that America is socially divided, extremely ignorant and racially insensitive to the core when it comes to cases like this. Whether or not Martin was imperfect child is not important, since Zimmerman didn’t know him. I truly want to know when Zimmerman first saw Martin, what did he think and do? What did Martin do that caused him to act in the way he did? The hood? His demeanor? The COLOR of his skin? What?? Forget the racial aspect of this for a second. Zimmerman was NEGLIGENT in his actions, even if he claims he isn’t racist. It was He who initially pursued Martin. After that, the details become sketchy and muddled. Even if Martin fought with Zimmerman, doesn’t Martin have the right to defend himself just as much as they claim Zimmerman does..and did in this case?? I’m not a lawyer, but seriously, does it take one to see the facts in this case? Zimmerman, in my opinion is definitely guilty of manslaughter. 7/12/13.

  12. Plantsmantx on July 12, 2013 at 1:50 pm

Well, the obvious thing is the fact that every one of them is a right-wing activist, which tells you something about what passes for “black conservatism” these days.

These are not Blacks, they are people with black skin that want to be accepted by anyone other than blacks. Who in the sam hill cares about whether they support GZ or not. Actually, I am not surprised they remind me of the character Samuel L Jackson played in Django Unchained, and you see what happened to him.

Many black people really hate each other and will side with white racists no matter what they inflict on us.this explains why white racists are so bold in discriminating against blacks and murdering us..

    • Guest on July 23, 2013 at 1:52 am

Murdering you? More white people are being murdered by blacks and we don’t take to the streets in protest. When my aunt was murdered by a black man I didnt demand a million dollars from the home owners association! She didn’t even live in a neighborhood that well-off. Yes, she was supposed to leave her old neigborhood because she was one of the only whites there. Why don’t poor whites live in the projects? Because black people beat them up and run them off. Some black guys would rather go to jail where they can braid each others hair then get the crappy jobs that they think are beneath them. Well it is beneath some smart black men to go to jail when they have a WIFE and children to take care of. Some people are still old school enough to make a commitment to each other so their children feel secure. Lets get real; a chain gang revival will change this nation for the good. I don’t care because you’ll call me a racist as long as I am white and breathing anyway.

And how is the Sharpton and Jackson message working out for black people?! 75% black kids born out of wedlock today and blacks are killing each other by the hundreds in Chicago. But same old message same old results! Insanity means doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. You are brainwashed and crazy. The white hoods of old couldn’t be happier that you are being led astray by the same type of black man who sold his brethren into slavery in Africa. Open your eyes. It is funny strange but not funny ha ha that even an old white you’d call racist loves you more than your own leaders. They go home to their mansions after the marching gig. There is no need for white hate groups when you constantly show you have no self-esteem or can think for yourselves. You are the sell-out. They just dont let hate get the best of them. They have good lives. They make good choices. Sounds like jealousy to me! When Dr. King was killed one leader told lies about how he cradled him as he died. Another was already planning to take his place. Another was contacting the feds. Dr. King came forward as a leader because he was asked to. He accepted the challenge because he was the bravest and the best. He warned against what is happening to you now. You just need to go back and read more of his writings.

It’s not over until there is justice for Trayvon Martin. We are seeing the Emmett Till case all over again. If you agree that Zimmerman needs to be charged, then sign this NAACP petition to Dept of Justice to charge Zimmerman with civil rights crimes. Click on this link, sign, then share with all of your friends, families, and acquaintances.

      Thanks for the link.

OT–I will be glad when the NAACP stops nominating and handing out IMAGE AWARDS to black people who don’t actually represent or promote POSITIVE images of black people. If they’re based on music sales and popularity, why do these musical “artists” need Image Awards from the NAACP? Isn’t that what the Grammy is for? Just curious, but it’s nice to see the organization taking on the SYG laws.

Im black also, and I was first tricked to believe that Zimmerman was a racist. After analyzing both characters (Trayvon and Zimmerman), I have made my conclusion that Trayvon was another lost young black kid who admired the thug life. I concluded that he was the type of person who could start a fight and Zimmerman story seems truthful. Zimmerman acted in self defense. People who supporting Trayvon are the one who are promoting violence. You should never attacked viciously someone the way Martin did. He didn’t show no mercy despite Zimmerman screaming for help. He caused his own death.

      • Ricky Farlon on July 16, 2013 at 1:50 pm

Thank you Demarcus for the advices. I refused to be a lamb like them backing up Trayvon because he is black. Im educated and i know the difference between self defense and murder. This wasn’t murder, it was self defense. Trayvon went thug on him that’s why is dead. Ignorant black people are the one promoting violence, you shouldn’t encourage your kid to attack someone viciously like Trayvon did. Those are the same ignorant black people who complain about unsolved murders happening in their community. It doesn’t make sense at all that Zimmerman will call the cops, will be screaming for help then commit murder. If he wanted to murder Trayvon, he would have shoot Trayvon before Trayvon injured him this badly.

    • Caydence James on July 16, 2013 at 5:11 am

Trayvon had no criminal record. He hadn’t been in trouble in school since elementary school and even then it was minor. Stilll, there are thousands of WHITE and BLACK boys who seem to admire the thug life but have not committed any crimes nor have been a menace to society.Don’t they still have the right to walk home untroubled too?

However, I will agree that it’s possible. Trayvon COULD have started a fight. He had enough motivation to start one. After all he was a 17 year old BLACK boy who was walking home and was being followed by a guy he didn’t know in a truck. Then that guy got out of the truck and confronted him. So with that in mind, even if he DID start a fight (which there was no evidence that he did), wouldn’t it stand to reason that he too was feeling just as threatened as GZ claimed to feel? He’s 17 years old! Not 20 or 30 but 17 and he was folllllllowwwwedddd at nigggggghhhht! Are you saying that you wouldn’t be antsy if you were followed by a man at night who wasn’t a cop?

But still, you’ve watched the trial and fallen for one of the critical fallacies and that’s when someone keeps talking about a theory (without any evidence) as if it were fact until you start to actually believe that it IS a fact. Still they had no evidence other than GZs word that Trayvon attacked him and, let’s face it, GZ wanted o be a cop badly (entered into evidence). Therefore he probably knew that if he admitted to starting it then he couldn’t claim self defense. Let’s not forget that he was also upset – he all but said so on the 911 tape when he told the operator that he was “tired of those **** getting away with it” and then right after that he took off after Trayvon. So it’s just as likely that with his attitude that GZ confronted Trayvon and tried to detain him and Trayvon (like any other boy) flipped out and there was a fight! They struggled (because Trayvon now feels threatened) and when Trayvon gets the better of him and GZ’s head hits the concrete. At that point, he pulled his gun and shot him and because no one saw how it started and dead boys can’t talk, GZ now had the liberty of claiming that Trayvon started it! From that moment on, they went around trying to find something to suggest that he could have started the fight – knowing full well that almost ANYONE would have felt threatened if they were Trayvon and that it wouldn’t take much to convince most people that he was a thug or whatever because – hey – he likes rap music! Etc….. However ask yourself this….if the victim had been a white boy instead of a black one – (even one like Justin Bieber who also admires the thug life) do you think that anyone would have allowed people to put his character on trial? Because I find it strange that there’s a man in AZ(Travis Alexander) that got stabbed 28 times and got shot in the head by his girlfriend (Jodi Arias) and even though there’s RECORDINGS of him suggesting and saying some horrible things, no one is willing to put his character on trial. Why? Because no matter what kind of person this guy was, they recognize that he didn’t deserve to be stabbed 28 times. Why not the same for Trayvon?

Trayvon was not a criminal, a maniac or known to start fights. He was a boy who was walking home, got scared when confronted unnecessarily by a person who had NO authority to do anything but call the police and was killed as a result. Do not let suppositions masked as fact fool you.

      • Jaffa on July 18, 2013 at 4:47 am

It’s funny that you also espouse suppositions masked as fact, therefore becoming a hypocrite. I don’t know how much of the Arias trial you watched, but Alexander’s character was put on trial and played for the jury. The judge did not allow any of Trayvon’s past to be introduced. And he absolutely did get in trouble at school well past elementary school. Dozens of items of jewelry not belonging to him was confiscated from his possession and they found marijuana residue in his bag. He had many pictures of himself smoking and one of a hand (presumably his) holding a gun and videos of him and others fighting. And since he was so close to Rachel, she tweeted often about being drunk and high and driving while both. Marijuana is illegal and she is nowhere near 21, making alcohol illegal as well. She said herself that Trayvon smoked at least twice a week, which is illegal. None of this proves that he was up to no good, but he is not the saint that you portray him to be.

I’m sure there exist times when there are racially motivated assaults, the fact is more are black on white than the other way around, or Hispanic on Black as this one was….but the alleged civil rights set desire to make this a race issue came back to bite them, it was the wrong case to try and make a stink about.
If you care about civil rights care about the government taking away ALL OUR RIGHTS, it isn’t about color people, our rights are being taken away and diminished every day by ever expanding government…this zimmerman matter is just a sideshow to keep us busy and so we won’t notice the real issues…

  22. Robert on July 15, 2013 at 8:32 pm

That’s what is wrong with this world. If your own race can’t see the racist bias in this case then what then. Zimmerman is a mother fucking racist that stalked and killed an innocent black child that was doing nothing wrong. This in justice goes on all the time. Why wasn’t some of the jurors allowed to be black. Sounds like we are back in the 40’s, 50’s. That fucking stand alone law is wrong and needs to be taken off the books. Basically, I can pick a fight with someone, find my ass getting kicked, then I can claim stand alone feared for my life, shoot someone and then be exonerated. Where the fuck is the balance of justice. Had Zimmerman racist ass stayed in his vehicle Trayvon would have been alive today. Why is no one hearing the facts. You can provoke something and get off free. If Zimmerman was black and Trayvon was white Zimmerman would have never been set free. This country Judicial System is fucked right up.

    • Anne on July 15, 2013 at 9:47 pm

If trayvon had finished heading home instead of turning to confront him (like his friend testified he did) he would still be alive today

      • Caydence James on July 16, 2013 at 6:06 am

Anne I truly see where you’re coming from because I used to think this way but this is exactly why GZ should’ve had a jury of his peers and not a jury full of women.
In our minds as women, if we were being followed by a man in a truck at night, most of us wouldn’t think to stop and ask someone why they were following us. For many of us without training, we aren’t confrontational and we know that in many situations we are working with a physical deficit. Because of this we would try to run home, hide or let the person catch up to us and then let him determine our fate.
Boys and men aren’t like that. Especially black boys who have seen this kind of thing happen all the time. Males in general will usually confront a situation head on – and stop the situation before leading it to their houses or one step further.
There was no EVIDENCE that Trayvon turned to confront GZ but there was evidence that GZ pursued him and admitted to confronting him! So saying that he shouldn’t have confronted GZ is an assumption, not fact and is one of the reasons why the defense was so successful – they convinced everyone that an assumption (with no evidence) was fact.
Also you said that he should have headed home. Asking a male to walk home knowing that someone is following him (and he has a right to walk there) is like asking you and I to not to be emotional during our “time of the month”. It’s natural for a male to choose to address someone who is following him when he feels he has a right to walk home unaccosted! He’ll do that before he leads anyone back to his house or gets jumped because he had his back turned!
TM isn’t alive today but he isn’t alive because he was shot by a man who – with no authority or permission to carry a gun during neighborhood round watches and was told NOT to pursue – challenged authority, followed this boy in the dark and then pursued, confronted and then killed him while he was simply walking home. There was nothing on Trayvon’s persons that suggested that he was planning to commit a crime nor was he in the middle of committing a crime. There was also nothing in his past to suggest that this was what he was doing. Therefore, GZ killed a boy for no good reason and honestly if we’re ok with this, then we’re telling the country that we’ll be ok with it again.

        • Anne on July 17, 2013 at 8:14 pm

I am not saying that I’m okay with the fact that a boy died, I can’t imagine the pain his family must be feeling. All that I am saying is that without actual evidence that this wasn’t self defense, he couldn’t be convicted because our judicial code says that everyone is innocent until proven guilty.

        • Jaffa on July 18, 2013 at 4:39 am

The defense was successful at raising reasonable doubt, which is what they are supposed to do. He wasn’t carrying his gun on watch, he was on his way to the store and he has a permit for the weapon. Based on all of your responses so far, you are clearly convinced as to what happened based on guesses absent of fact. You cannot convict a man based on emotion.

    • Caydence James on July 16, 2013 at 5:26 am

Actually Zimmerman was supposed to have a jury of his peers so his peers would have been men who were his age, his demographics and had a similar background. If he’d had those kind of people instead of people who were so drastically different (6 white women? How are they peers?) then they would’ve caught on to a few things that these women just didn’t know or see.
That’s why the defense was so happy to get all of those women on the stand. They knew that most women wouldn’t recognize certain things – especially how things actually happen in a fight and that men are less likely to be passive in a threatening situation.
Because they didn’t know these things, these women didn’t stop and consider that a scrap on the back of GZ’s head wasn’t evidence that Trayvon STARTED the fight but merely that GZ got into a fight with him. Women who aren’t trained to fight or haven’t been in a fight assume that whoever gets a bruise is the one that deserves the sympathy. They also lash out and assume that whoever put it there was the one that started it too but I’m not sure why. Men on the jury would’ve said,”Ok…. bruise. How does this prove that Trayvon started it?” and there would have been doubt that the defense wouldn’t have liked.

Most women (not all) are also passive. If they were followed in the dark by a car or on foot, they wouldn’t instinctively think that fighting was an option. Most would either run, hide or be frozen in place and let whoever approached them take over. So they wouldn’t have any clue that a boy – particularly a black boy who probably knows a lot about how this has happened to other brown boys like him – would choose to fight IF he felt threatened.
So from out of the gate they picked the wrong jury and since they should’ve picked a jury of his peers (meaning similar), this is why it failed. The defense thought that they could depend on the sympathy of the women but didn’t realize that the self defense pleas meant that they would have to concentrate on who started it and in that case, they needed people with more knowledge of confrontations between males to make their case.
I’m saying this and I’m a woman. A woman who’s taken Krav Maga for 3 years now and have witnessed newer women coming in to fight and how they evolve after they learn to feel what men feel. Unless these women had that, the case was doomed from the start.
RIP Trayvon. May God judge GZ accordingly.

      • Jaffa on July 18, 2013 at 4:26 am

The prosecution and defense had equal parts in forming the jury. And probable doubt does not nullify a defense. The jury only has to find reasonable doubt in the prosecution. I don’t understand how any rational person can look at the evidence and testimony, viewed at through the scope of Florida law, and not find reasonable doubt. I initially thought Zimmerman was guilty of murder last year, when I did not know any details, but I now agree with the jury that they chose the only option legal in their situation.

      • MamaChitChatChitterling on July 21, 2013 at 9:58 am

I appreciate your post, but I think you’re being too kind to those jurors and not giving other women enough credit.

I do get what you’re saying, especially the idea that those who have a scrape may be perceived as requiring the most sympathy… But–and this is only anecdotal– I’ve seen some people “start up something they couldn’t finish”–and they came out looking ‘tore up from the floor up. That racist ex-Goldman Sachs broker started something up at an outside cafe and got knocked out with a single punch for his troubles. Basically, I think those white women may have had the luxury and luck to be so naive as to have not a clue about the dynamics of a fight, when some other women might have a little bit more common sense about it.

I don’t have the training you have had, but even I know that all fights are not stationary, that someone may be on top at one moment and someone else at another. That it is about momentum and balance of power. The juror who spoke out in the public interview just struck me as one of those very common, dingy white women who live in the bubble of white (female) privilege and haven’t a clue about anyone else who doesn’t–and are perpetually afraid even though they don’t live ANYWHERE NEAR real danger.

    • MamaChitChatChitterling on July 21, 2013 at 9:48 am

“Why wasn’t some of the jurors allowed to be black”

      Peremptory challenges.

They are the right of the plaintiff and the defendant in a jury trial to have a juror dismissed before trial without stating a reason.

The American Bar Association has reported that attorneys across the nation routinely abuse the use of peremptory challenges to dismiss blacks from the jury pools–an excellent example of institutionalized racism at its worst.

Despite Batson v. Kentucky, racist attorneys and judges get away with doing this because an attorney may offer any subjective reason for dismissing a juror–and the court can accept it.

  23. Demarcus Kennan on July 15, 2013 at 8:44 pm

To all your HATER racist black folks: The lesson here is obvious….don’t raise your male sons to be ghetto trash violent fools and they won’t end up dead like the trash they are. You are embarrassing our race, terrible black mothers. And you are the MAJORITY.

  24. Demarcus Kennan on July 15, 2013 at 8:47 pm

Black folks need to start thinking instead of being racist against people not them. You look foolish, hateful and you are losing. Losing bad. Latinos are taking the jobs and you have no quality education. White folks hate you because you are ignorant and racist, not because of the color of your skin. HATE YOU.

    • Caydence James on July 16, 2013 at 4:43 am

      Stop. I mean really stop.

Before you keep ranting…..tell us what your definition of racism means because it definitely CAN NOT be what the dictionary says that it is.

The definition of racism alone makes it less likely that any Black person can be racist. What you have done is allowed people to use the word incorrectly so many times in your presence that you actually think it means something that it doesn’t.

RACISM is the idea the one race is SUPERIOR over another……that’s ALL it means….and since there’s not one Black person that’s ever said, suggested or implied that they feel superior over any other race (at least in this case) that means that they cannot be a RACIST!

This is why people think you have a lot of nerve to call anyone a name – especially when you call them uneducated! You started off calling them something without really knowing the meaning of the word and then you expect respect in return.

If anything, the closest word you could find that would come close to your accusations of black people, would probably be that they are being “prejudicial”. The only problem with that is that for one to be “prejudice” they would have to have a strong IRRATIONAL dislike for a person or group. It would have to be a hatred or dislike that is without grounds. Since this type of double standard has happened for 500 years against black people in this country it is safe to say that our argument is not WITHOUT grounds so we aren’t prejudice either. We also cannot be called “paranoid” either because, again, look what’s happened in this country. So maybe you should turn to “unjustified indignation”? Still, that word unjustified doesn’t really work either, because we are justified in asking questions.

So basically you’re stuck. There hasn’t been a word yet to accurately describe our feelings about the way we’re typically treated in this country but please…..keep on using the word “racist” to describe black people. To people who don’t know what it means, it might actually have an impact. To those who do know…they’ll just question your education altogether. 😉
      Goodnight “Demarcus”.

      • Demarcus Kennan on July 16, 2013 at 5:31 pm

No, you STOP. And stop promulgating (do you know what that word mean, ignorant trash woman?) hateful one-sided theories made up BY racists.

The he!! black folks have not said that. Malcolm X, hello? How ignorant ghetto trash ARE you?

      • MamaChitChatChitterling on July 21, 2013 at 9:37 am

You’re absolutely correct that people keep misusing the term “racism”; however, I disagree that the dictionary is the best place to look. All dictionaries are not created equal and to me, racism has jack to do with someone’s “feelings”, but it is how those “feelings” are used in the world to negatively impact the lives of others. Racism is prejudice plus power–the institutionalized use of that prejudice to negatively impact and systemically place another race at a distinct disadvantage. In America, the white majority population always and continues to maintain control of every natural resource and every institution the country has. Racism is power dynamic. And until blacks or other minorities in America suddenly change their numbers to such an extent that they are no longer minorities, are in fact, the majority of the population, then cannot be “racists”. Bigots, prejudiced, myopic, hateful, etc., etc., yes, certainly, but racists? No. Not in America.

  25. Anne on July 15, 2013 at 8:59 pm

My heart goes out to trayvon martin’s family; however, There are two sides to every story. Trayvon was seen acting suspiciously and Zimmerman was not able to see his race until Trayvon was actually walking towards him to confront him so it wasn’t racially motivated.( it’s in the full 911 call)
not only that but a forensic analyst and a witness both were able to testify with certainty that Zimmerman was not only on his back when his gun went off but his head was repeatedly smashed against the cement when he deployed his weapon. If trayvon had not been shot zimmerman would quite possibly be dead and trayvon would be in jail. In either scenario there are two lives wasted and countless others affected. It is an absolute tragedy that that boy died but sometimes a tragedy is just a tragedy, not a crime

    • Caydence James on July 16, 2013 at 5:50 am

Just because GZ was on his back when the gun went off does not mean that Trayvon started the confrontation and that’s what a “self defense” pleas is based on.
See, a person cannot claim self defense IF they started the altercation. Just because GZ was o the ground does not mean that Trayvon started it. The other possible scenario is that GZ confronted Trayvon (which he wasn’t supposed to do) and in trying to detain him (remember he said something about being tired of **** getting away with “this”) he put his hands on him which made Trayvon react.
GZ knows enough about the law to know that he cannot claim self defense in a fight that he’s started. He also knows that no one saw the beginning of this fight and since a dead kid cannot tell on him, he knows that he can say anything he wants. So chances are, GZ (who was already upset about “them” getting away with stuff) initiated this confrontation and is now saying it was Trayvon to save his butt. The jury believed him because many people (especially *women) think that being on his back meant that HE was being attacked instead of considering that Trayvon was fighting him to keep him from continuing to attack him so that he could escape – and that’s why this man was allowed to go free.
*Please take no offense by the woman reference. I’m a woman and I’ve had 3 years of hand to hand combat training and I can assure you that I’ve seen my share of women who haven’t had fighting experience and think this way. It is a normal misconception.

      • Anne on July 17, 2013 at 8:02 pm

It is possible that Zimmerman started the fight; however, it is also possible that he did not. Because there is no evidence that he started the altercation and the evidence suggests that he was being attacked due to his lack of offensive wounds and the mark on his head, there is reasonable doubt. That means that a jury could not convict him while still following our judicial system. He could not definitively be proven guilty.

      • Anne on July 17, 2013 at 8:05 pm

Also I didn’t take offense, it’s true that I don’t have fighting experience.

      • Jaffa on July 18, 2013 at 4:17 am

Anne below summed it up pretty well. And you pretty much explained why he had to be found not guilty. Neither story could be proved, and since the burden of proof is on the prosecution (that whole innocent until proven guilty), the jury had no choice, regardless of their gender.

And who is the racist, sounds like you are a big one.
Where would you, yourslf be right now if it wasn’t for your ancestors.
      Can you say AFRICA.
I don’t like what history did, but it has nothing to do with, you, now so get over it, YOU have a better life now but contiue to want to act like something bad happen to you.
White grand parents may have owed your grand parent something back, but today whites owe blacks nothing, blacks in America now have a better life in America then they would have in Africa.
I’m glad you are here in America with a better life, but owe you something because of our grand parent????

They are not trying to open up a history book, they are trying to open up a checkbook. Let’s put this in the proper historical context. Selling black pathology always pays in America.

Got here by mistake read a few comments and by the looks of it all of you are racist and all these opinions are unless, no one really cares about all the hate here. Its good for all of you who have nothing better to do than this. Get a life, all of you.

In 2009 Roderick Scott a black man that was a neighborhood watch member shot and killed a 17 year old white male by the name of Christopher Cervini, Roderick said it was self defense even though Cervini was unarmed. Roderick Scott was found not guilty, Its the exact same scenario except the victim is white and the defendant is black. There were no riots, no major media coverage, do the research I am 100% factual

  30. Beharrell on July 23, 2013 at 12:17 am

Black people who are conservatives tend to have better lives. It is a fact. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton want you to feel sorry for yourselves. They go home to their mansions after their march gigs are up. Keep being big cry babies and your lives will suck. You’re the only ones who think its all about YOU. White people are just trying to live their own less than wonderful lives. If only you could understand us, you wouldn’t be nearly as pissed off. We can’t know what it is like to be you and vise versa, No white person feels sorry for you when you get good gov’t jobs like President. Yes I get scared in the elevator because the news doesn’t mention white victims like Eve Carson and the Knoxville couple. The Media is hypocritical. Think for yourself and I voted for the man in the elevator….

This post is meant for real thought among people who can do so without looking for an argument that amounts to little more than “blowing hot air.” First off the playback of the phone call made by Zimmerman; in his own words displayed contempt for black people in general. All those who like being referred too by such phrases as “those people, their kind, darky, black sons of bitches, niggers etc; raise your voices in acceptance for racism. Those that prefer to be recognized as a viable part of society take the time to really think before you respond to this post. From the start George was refused by law enforcement as even a candidate for wearing the badge of an officer in Florida because of his harshness toward black people. Even on the night of the shooting he was reported by the news media as a “self proclaimed neighborhood watch captain.” By law in every state I know of the rule for neighborhood watch units is the same. These are duly registered civilians who receive training from authorities on how to observe and report anything unusual which includes suspicious activity in their areas by unknown individuals and or groups of people which is cause for concern. The guidelines go on to state that at no time do these designated people have the right to carry firearms, confront or take the law in their own hands. They are to notify the proper authorities and take instruction, keep the perpetrators in sight without being seen and keep a log on all activities including an accurate description of the persons involved, vehicle and license plate if possible as information for the police. Yet Zimmerman didn’t follow any of the rules. When he called 911 and said he was following a suspicious black man walking through the area with a hoody on, the operator asked if he was doing anything. Zimmerman’s response was he looked like he was up to something. then Zimmerman further stated “you know how those people are.” The operator told Zimmerman not to confront him because he had a unit on the way. Zimmerman “who was driving along in his car at the time decided to exit the vehicle with his handgun, follow and confront the person. To refresh your memory in the event you forgot or didn’t know, This young man had just left the corner store after buying a pack of “skittles and a bottle of ice tea for his little brother, walking in the rain with his hood on his head to keep from getting wet and talking to his friendgirl on the phone while he walked back home “which was in the same general area he was killed.” Common sense dictates that Zimmerman decided to catch up and confront this young man with a gun in hand as both a threat and possible deterrent. According to the young lady on the other end of the young man’s phone, the young man told her he was scarred because a white man was following him. Her response to this was to tell the young man to run. His response was “no, because he wasn’t doing anything wrong.” She further stated a few seconds later she stated she heard the young man cry out for help several times and a gunshot before the phone went dead. Next thing you know the young man was laying flat on his back with his arms stretched out to each side dead from a gunshot to the chest. When question about what happened; Zimmerman stated that the young man attacked him, knocked him to the ground and started beating the back of his head on the sidewalk and reached for the gun which was under his clothing behind his back. According to Zimmerman; that’s the point when he pulled the weapon and shot the young man in the chest and that’s when the young man supposedly sat straight up and said in a calm voice with a smile “you got me” before he fell over dead. Being familiar with guns and their effectiveness especially after seeing people get shot in the chest; I never heard a word from the victim. I just watched them either fall dead on the spot or try to run only to be found dead later from the wound. Also if the incident truly occurred the way Zimmerman said; the young man would have fell on top of him and his blood would have been on Zimmerman’s clothes. “Especially his shirt and upper body area. “yet there was none to be seen on camera just like there were no bruises on Zimmerman in full view of the jail camera when he was taken to the police department the same night. The so called bruises that showed up a few days later appeared to be fresh and not of a concussion type. Question: How can it be that this man had bruises on top of his head from a fight in which the back of his head was supposedly slammed on the sidewalk yet no blood was ever found? According to several so called witnesses; when they saw the two men after the gunshot; the young man was on top of Zimmerman. Again I ask “where was the blood? As for the remark Zimmerman said the young man made before he fell on top of him. “You got me!” This is a line I heard in many western movies I watched growing up and on cable. I know everyone has their own opinion about this case. I’m just making an observation from what was presented at the beginning. By the way did you know that the corporate defense attorneys for Zimmerman were supplied by KOCH INDUSTRIES? These are the people whose products you buy everyday from cereal to household goods. Had it not been for them Zimmerman wouldn’t have had a chance. He would have been found guilty on the total facts and no evidence or testimony would have been left out. It seems to me the DA’s office was bought. I’m not asking anyone to believe what I just said. But if it were you or your child that was killed in this manner, wouldn’t you want the real story to be told? Wouldn’t you want the truth to be known?

  32. Scott on July 24, 2013 at 4:23 pm

If GZ was intending on doing something to TM, why did he call 911 at all? Don’t you think he would have just went up and shot him? His girlfriend too? Makes more sense to me than bringing 911 and another witness into the conspiracy doesn’t it?

  33. Kelsow $ Farlander on July 24, 2013 at 7:15 pm

What was Zimmerman supposed to do while Trayvon was trying to crack his head open, yell thank you, may I have another? The side effect of this incident seems to a complete loss of logic among liberals. You folks are going way out on a limb for race pimps Rev. Al & Rev. Jackson.

These are the type of “men” not just black men who would sell their own mother down the river if it pleased ole massa! A dead kid who is not here to defend his character or tell his version of the events, has his memory and name further tarnished by these Plantation House Negroes, that identify so much with old massa that they can’t even think for themselves. The reason that Trayvon Martin went from a seventeen year old kid, pictured in that Seven -Eleven buying skittles and ice-t, a so called thug wanna be looking to burglarizing the neighborhood who deserved a bullet in his heart, even though he had committed no because Uncle Tom Negroes like this. Because when they speak badly of Trayvon while in the same breath praise Zimmerman, it gives license for all of the Racist to spew their hate about Trayvon. Because in their warped minds..if one of their “own kind” talks badly of Trayvon, then it’s OK for us to do it. I absolutely hate Uncle Tom Negroes!!

  35. FATIMA on July 28, 2013 at 3:12 pm

Trayvon is still being victimize. There’s nothing celebratory about a confused and troubled man to kill a child who had more right than Zimmerman being there. His Stepmother lived there before gz. Judge Zimmerman pulled all the strings for him to kill again. Next time he may kill white this time. Maybe smirks will be wiped off. I ALWAYS SAY BE CAREFUL DIGGING A GRAVE FOR ME BECAUSE THAT’S THE ONE THEY WILL FIND YOU IN.

  36. JoNell on July 29, 2013 at 12:39 am

Isn’t it a “hate crime” any time someone attacks another person or takes their life out of malice?

Malice was not the motive here.

  37. buck57 on July 29, 2013 at 9:29 pm

Georgie was trying to be a dam action hero and should have stayed in his car….let law enforcement handle it….He did his part (which there was nothing suspicous going on but a young man walking home!) by calling the police. Stay in your car George and they’ll take it from there but you
chose to take matters in your own hands, got you butt kicked and figured I got the law on my side so let my pull out this weapon. Total Dumbass and so are those who support him. These supporters do not deserve any attention. We know who you are even before you open your mouths. Good Luck with that! Peace and a long life!

  38. Arthur McDonald on August 2, 2013 at 11:32 am

Looking at the sequence of events alone, and taking race out of the picture for a second, GZ was instructed by law enforcement to not pursue TM. His disobedience is what got TM killed. The cops should’ve been allowed to do their job. Had so, the cops would’ve arrived, diffused the situation if there was one, and who knows, GZ and TM may have met, shook hands, and maybe had been cool with one another for a long time. But prejudice (I didn’t say racism) causes problems like these all the time.

However, Many of you all that have commented before I have, ahve started to show a lot of your true motives. All I’ve seen is poison being spewed between each other, and all that will do is make a greater divide between people who had nothing to do with the event. We are just standing on the sidelines

The amount of ignorance and instant judgement that comes from the zimmerman haters is beyond pathetic. Not only have they had a near 1.5 years to prove something, something even the state could not, they never are open to an intelligent discussion and always over-emphasize lies re: G.Z

I dare them to learn about Sherman Ware and his ancestry. I also dare them to read why Sybrina kicked her son out in December (and October). Time to grow up, folks. You’ve been duped. If they are dumb enough to sue the GZ family, or just GZ, watch what gets released. It won’t be pretty. In that sense, I feel even worse for TM. He needed help, from the miami dade high school pd (first offense, search ‘FOIA charles hurley’) and also from his parents. When your kid is fascinated by fights, does drugs, sells them and is looking to inquire about a gun, and it’s in his damn texts, you kind of need to nip that in the bud. Not bring a g.f to a black free mason convention in Orlando and leave him unattended with a 14 year old.

    Just pathetic.

  40. nomorebsplz on August 4, 2013 at 1:02 pm

And when does the ‘he is black but doesn’t tow the company line, let’s yell at him and hate him and judge him, but why do white people judge us?’ crap end? When will some black (D) step up and say “Enough, we’re not slaves, those who survived the holocaust picked themselves up after losing loved ones and went to work. Time to do the same and stick together with our families and help each other. Enough”. Lord knows that slimebag in chief won’t do it. I should send a prayer to him for all the racist coconuts or pineapples, whatever the hell grows in Hawaii, that fell on his head. What a tragic life he must have lived. I’m sure his half-brother eating out of a dumpster in africa will cry for him tonight.

You lower intelligence is on display, with every racial thought you put on paper. When you, a bigot, is tired of others making comments, your insecurity, makes you behave in a defensive manner. You comment as though, we must accept your dialog, as if it’s true, and not child-like. Only a complete fool, would defend this guy, either that, or a coward. It’s hard to see, a complete moron, would still think the president is not from here, a complete moron, who’s also a bigot, what a combination.

  41. Celeste Harrell on August 7, 2013 at 4:51 pm

The stereotype that African Americans want an acquittal or a guilty verdict on the common race premise is fallacy. Please present the proof where the majority of the African American of population support this comment, “They didn’t care about the evidence . . . with O.J. Simpson, they just wanted a brother to get off.” This is in every sense of the word injustice, no matter what race the assailant or victim maybe. This comment supports the stereotype that African Americans are so uninformed, and can only base a decision on the common race factor.

  42. Onaje Allan Gumbs on August 12, 2013 at 6:16 pm

Mr. Elder, why are we sure that what George Zimmerman said Trayvon Martin did really happen? Because he said so? Please, Zimmerman lied on a few counts. To Sean Hannity, Zimmerman never heard of the Stand Your Ground Law. Fast forward to the testimony of Prof. Alexis Carter. Zimmerman not only knew about the lawe, he took his course and got an A, while dr. Carter discussed this controversial law AT LENGTH.

  43. Guest1234 on August 25, 2013 at 11:31 pm

Ive been reading up on this case and based on my research i believe GZ to be guilty because of three things 1. He used social profilying to judge wether or not if TM was a threat to his neighborhood and used lethal force on an inocent bistander 2. He was instructed to not pursue TM and yet he still did and it is because of him a young kid was killed and i believe if that kid was of white decent this trial would not exist i can only hope that his parents can pass through this 3.they said that there were no witnesses and no proof but there was a gun with zimmermans fingerprints and the only witness was a liar but because of his lies he gets to walk free.

  44. Steven Thompson on August 26, 2013 at 9:59 pm

What a happy place this is !!!!! Zimmerman was found not guilty by a jury of his peers. The prosecution had nothing but conjecture to base his entire case on. It obviously failed and failed big time. Zimmerman was acquitted because he did nothing wrong except protect his own life. Stand your ground works in all cases and it does not matter if you are black, white, Hispanic, Asian, purple, green or have pink polka dots, you have a God given right to defend yourself. That is exactly what GZ did.

  45. Mirquella Santos on December 1, 2013 at 4:12 pm

I am Latino and my Christian values will never allow me to defend Zimmerman. Why? I could never, never and never defend a child molester and a woman batter. Latino or not. Only white southerners and Republicans are capable of defending such individual. Where my mother was born child molesters are lynched.

  46. ndk13 on May 13, 2014 at 9:14 pm

Zimmerman did what he had to do to survive period ! His life has been forever changed because a stupid kid thought he was a bad ass ! He brought his fists to a gun fight and lost period ! Maybe his head would have been clearer if he didn’t smoke dope ? But I doubt it ?

Blacks almost always defend even their own violent behavior and vote in lockstep. They’re their own worst enemy.
