Owing as much to the Native Tongues as they did to Boogie Down Productions, Mos Def and Talib Kweli were not only two of the most gifted emcees of their generation; but they helped re-imagine what we now know as “conscious rap” and re-shaped it’s aesthetic as the 1990s drew to a close.
