Rising drag queen superstar Latrice Royale was always seen as the bearer of wisdom, fabulosity and love on her season of “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” and the large-and-in-charge, chunky-yet-funky diva is spreading the love in a major way now that she’s an ordained minister and marrying same-sex couples.

According to NewNowNext, Royale officiated her first gay wedding last weekend when she married a couple in upstate New York.

“What a life-changing experience. Officiating the wedding yesterday truly opened my eyes to [the]beautiful and magical side of life,” Big Mama Royale posted about the wedding. “I’m honored that I was able to be apart of it. I wish the newlyweds many years of total bliss!”

Royale later spoke to DragOfficial.com about the ceremony and revealed that she’s friends with one of the grooms and got ordained so she could officiate his wedding.

“Daniel [whose wedding was performed] is a good friend of mine. Before it was even a possibility, Daniel said ‘I would love for you to come marry us and perform at our wedding ceremony.’ I was like ‘Are you serious??’ and he was. … It was the best thing I ever did. It turned out to be beautiful!”

Ironically, Royale was involved in a bit of controversy during season four of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” when she claimed that same-sex unions shouldn’t be called marriages. And although she still believes that, she explains her reasoning is about celebrating being different.

“For me, we cannot act like we have not been separate from society this whole entire time,” explained Royale. “It’s a man and a man, and a woman and a woman getting married, and I think it is special and unique. So why not identify and celebrate it as something special and unique, and not lump it in with the same thing that has been going on for years.

Royale added, “Am I not going to support gay ‘marriage’ because of the name? Of course not! Of course I am going to support it. I just want to celebrate it in our own way, and call it something different. But, yes I believe we should have all the same benefits, rights and legal things.”

And expect Royale to continue supporting same-sex marriage and opposite-sex marriages as she’s promised to marry any couple who will have her.
