Perhaps having the same name as the greatest basketball player to ever walk the earth was mere motivation for the Santa Ana, Calif. born actor Michael B. Jordan to strive for greatness. His display of cool, calm, and charismatic demeanor while on set of a recent rolling out cover shoot in North Hollywood was reminiscent of Denzel Washington in his Malcolm-X days. The star of the Sundance Film Festival award winning film, Fruitvale Station, arrived camera-ready in his brand new shiny blacked-out 2013 Chevy Camaro and ready to work. Jordan said he wasn’t really a fan of photo shoots, however, you would never have guessed it based on his level of comfort while in front of the lens.

You may remember his character on the HBO series “The Wire” as the kid “Wallace” on the corner? Or maybe you remember him from his mainstream breakout role in the hilarious NBC show “Parenthood?” In his latest film, you won’t forget Jordan’s portrayal of a young black man by the name of Oscar Grant, 22, who was gunned down by BART police while handcuffed on the train station platform. There’s talk out here in Hollywood that you may soon be remembering him not just for playing Oscar, but also for winning an Oscar. The story of Fruitvale Station documents the 24 hours leading up to the death of Oscar Grant and is filmed in a way where Michael B. Jordan personified the real-life of Oscar Grant and his character flaws- his dope dealing, his anger issues, and his love for his young daughter. Be sure to check your local listings for show times and watch the behind the scenes video of Jordan’s photo shoot with rolling out.
