The quartet of Atlanta-based conscious rappers had released two of the Dirty South’s most acclaimed albums and then suddenly, everything seemed to go wrong. While the socio-political commentary is still there, it’s de-emphasized in favor of a more eclectic (eccentric?) sound and approach, one that would better suit member Cee-Lo Green’s burgeoning solo career. They wouldn’t record again as a group for over 13 years.
