Big Sean’s ‘Hall of Fame,’ Juicy J gets trippy: The Tuesday new music rundown

Hip-hop is closing out the summer strong.


After a slow rap week, the genre comes roaring out the gate the week before Labor Day with a trio of high-profile album releases. One is the much-anticipated sophomore outing from Detroit rapper Big Sean; the other two major hip-hop releases this week feature two veteran Southern rap acts making their returns to recording. Juicy J and Goodie MOB dropping albums this week that are both comeback albums of sorts–Goodie hasn’t released an album with their original lineup since 1999, and this is Juicy’s first solo album on a major label.


So, with a little dash of indie rock and R&B thrown in–here are the most interesting album releases for this week…
