Celebrities support the Affordable Care Act

Although the government shutdown is ongoing, a bevy of celebs are thrusting support behind President Obama’s Affordable Care Act. Kerry Washington, 36, utilized the hashtag #GetCovered on social media to promote the health care law aiming to provide coverage to millions of uninsured Americans.

And while Republicans claim that the law is widely unpopular, celebs like Nia Long, Lady Gaga and Pharrell are doing their best to dispel that rumor. Each celeb has made a homemade sign telling people to #GetCovered, alongside a photo of themselves holding it up to their millions of followers.

Other stars including Janelle Monae, Sarah Silverman, Mia Farrow and John Legend have also chimed in with support of the so called “Obamacare” via tweets.

I guarantee not a single one of them has either read the 3000+ page text of the law, or the >20,000 regulations that accompany it.

Nia Long, Lady Gaga and Pharrell have zero chance of being dumped into a government health insurance exchange. Nothing changes in their world; unlike the $12/hr worker who faces premiums of $144/mo, and a $5000 deductible, which needs to be fulfilled before access to any health services. You may say, “but they will get “premium assistance.” That will last about as long as the “premium assistance” for car insurance did. Remember? When it became law for every driver to carry car insurance, it was offset with a, low-income, government subsidy. This no different. Typical, Bait and Hook.
