Rapper and mother of 10, Ms. Atlanta, gunned down while breaking up fight

ms atlantaA local Atlanta rapper and mother of 10 was trying to break up a fight outside a suburban restaurant when she was shot and killed by another woman.

Charlise Brooks, 34, better known as Ms. Atlanta, was intercepting a heated verbal brawl that was about to get violent between two women in DeKalb County, Ga. At some point during the exchange of words and perhaps pushing, one of the women pulled out a gun and fired multiple times in Brooks’ direction. Brooks was hit several times and, despite a friend administering CPR, Brooks was pronounced dead at the scene.

Brooks, who went by the nickname “Beasley,” was the biological mother of four children and the adoptive mother of six more, ages 6 to 16. She was also a businesswoman who loved to rap. She has collaborated with the likes of Gucci Mane. One of her adolescent sons worked at the barbershop next door.
