NFL owners decline Eminem, Kanye’s pricey performances

It looks like hip-hop superstars Kanye West and Eminem are a bit too pricey for NFL owners.

The NFL owners host a party every year just before the Super Bowl, and in 2014, the owners were interested in having one of the rap megastars perform at their party. But they wound up having to decline both rappers because, basically, the emcees just wanted too much money.

According to TMZ, Eminem requested roughly $2 million to perform at the event. Kanye was open to performing for the owners, as well, but he wanted at least $1 million directly and made numerous other requests that would have been likely to drive the overall cost of the performance up. Both Em and Ye have been performing regularly this year, on the heels of their respective new albums, The Marshall Mathers LP 2 and Yeezus.

Those prices led to the owners’ deciding to seek their entertainment elsewhere.

Reportedly, R&B star Janelle Monae will be handling the show for the NFL owners this year. The singer requested a much more price-friendly fee of $150,000 for the party. Understandably, she landed the gig.

1,500 people are expected to attend the NFL Owners Party this year. The party is held every year prior to the Super Bowl and generally features top-tier entertainment.
