‘GMA’ host Robin Roberts comes out

Robin Roberts - Coming Out cover

For “Good Morning America” host Robin Roberts, living out her personal life in front of the camera has become the norm ever since she first let fans into her world when she extensively covered her battle with myleodysplastic syndrome. Now, after beating the cancer, Roberts has let fans even further beyond the velvet rope and revealed her longterm relationship with a woman.

In a Facebook post uploaded on Sunday, Roberts reflected on the past year as she struggled to regain her health and, most notably, she thanked her girlfriend for her support throughout the ordeal.

“At this moment I am at peace and filled with joy and gratitude. I am grateful to God, my doctors and nurses for my restored good health,” she wrote. “I am grateful for my sister, Sally-Ann, for being my donor and giving me the gift of life. I am grateful for my entire family, my long time girlfriend, Amber and friends as we prepare to celebrate a glorious new year together. I am grateful for the many prayers and well wishes for my recovery. I return every one of them to you 100 fold. On this last Sunday of 2013 I encourage you to reflect on what you are grateful for too.”

According to Variety, an ABC News rep has confirmed that Robert’s girlfriend is a woman named Amber Laign, a massage therapist in private practice originally from the Bay Area. Roberts and Laign met through friends and have been together for the last ten years.

Well, we not only congratulate Roberts on her improving health but we also congratulate her on having the bravery to come out of the closet. Although, with such a strong partner by her side, we can see how Roberts is standing so healthy, proud and open these days.
