Celeb beauty trend: Kim Kardashian’s ‘vampire facial’ being tested by other celebs

Back in March 2013, Kim Kardashian was filmed trying out the latest beauty technique during an episode of Kourtney and Kim Take Miami.

“I love trying anything that makes you look and feel youthful,” she said during the show before undergoing the procedure with her best friend Jonathan Cheban in tow.

The treatment is so-called “vampire” because it uses the patient’s own blood to make improvements to the skin. The plasma from the blood is then extracted and used in the non-invasive procedure, with the aim of rejuvenating the skin.

The technique is an updated version of the traditional “vampire facelift,” which involves a series of painful injections into the face using the blood extracted from the patient.

“Owww,” she wailed. “Oh my God. I will never get a facelift if it feels like that.” But as she recovered with ice packs on her face, Kim insisted, “We’re all good.”

Israeli model, Bar Refaeli,  who has often been seen in campaigns for Garnier, Escada, Gap and Samsung, uploaded a picture of her face covered in blood onto Instagram on December 28 shortly after TV presenter Anna Richardson, host of How Not to Get Old, a show that road-tests the latest cosmetic procedures and non-surgical treatments to investigate whether they really do help to turn the clock back. While Bar Refaeli doesn’t seem to have any unusual side effects and enjoyed it just as much as Kardashian, the procedure left Richardson looking like a raccoon.
