Convicted Steubenville rapist, Ma’Lik Richmond, released from juvenile

Ma’Lik Richmond, 16, who has been labeled a “Steubenville” rapist has been released from Cuyahoga Hills Juvenile Detention Center in Ohio, less than a year after his one-year sentence was handed down on March 17, 2013.

Richmond and fellow Steubenville High School athlete Trent Mays were accused of raping a West Virginia girl in August 2012.


His attorney, Walter Madison, tells press Richmond is a “better, stronger person” and requests privacy.

Labeled a tier 2 sex offender Richmond be required to register every six months for the next 20 years. Talking about second chances, unlike adult sex offender, his name won’t be on publicly accessible websites. Also, he can request to have the sex offender classification removed later based on his history of rehabilitation.


Mays was sentenced to two years for his role in the assault including taking photos.
