Hustle and Flow star Terrence Howard gears up to film a new TV pilot, “Empire,” for FOX Network. The Oscar-nominated actor will begin filming the Lee Daniels hip hop drama in Chicago in late March, but it’s unclear if the show will take place in the windy city.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, “Howard will play a street hustler-turned-record label head named Lucious Lyon (great name –very Max Power-esque). Lyon’s hip-hop label is about go public and he’ll do anything to protect his rap empire.”

The pilot is already sounding promising, considering that the team behind last year’s blockbuster The Butler, Lee Daniels and Danny Strong, is the brains behind this developing family drama. Will you be watching? – ruthie hawkins/@ruubabie
