Porsha Williams says gays need to be ‘saved’ in leaked video

“The Real Housewives of Atlanta” franchise has come under major fire this week after NeNe Leakes insulted Andy Cohen at the reunion special and made light of her homophobic comments she made about Brandon DeShazer. Now, Porsha Williams has thrown even more fuel on the fire as a old tape from her evangelist past shows her saying that gays and lesbians need to be saved from hell.

The video, which was posted by TMZ, is around three years old and shows Williams giving an impassioned sermon at High Praise Christian Center Ministries in Georgia. In the sermon, Williams talks about the need for Christians to save hookers and drug dealers, and then she equates gays and lesbians to them, saying that they need to be saved as well.

“Don’t let the devil tell you, you ain’t worthy of God’s blessings. He wants to use you no matter what. That’s what we Christians supposed to be telling the hooker on the street, the drug dealer, the person in the hospital from trying to commit suicide, the gays, the lesbians; we supposed to be trying to save them and tell them, ‘You are worthy!’” Williams declared.

In her comment, Williams lumps together, prostitutes, drug dealers, the LGBT community and suicidal people into one basket, compare their lives, and then says they need saving from the devil. Using such a broad brush to paint entire groups of people as nothing more than sinners who are beneath you and who need your “help” instead of your compassion as a human being to understand and not judge them belies pretty much everything she’s preaching about.

After her numerous fiascos on “RHOA,” Williams would probably be offended if someone talked about her in the same manner, especially since she’s been discussing how she’s misunderstood and bullied by fans and cast mates. Hopefully, Williams has changed in the last three years. – nicholas robinson
