A white man in Dayton, Ohio, filed a false report about an alleged racist attack. According to Dayton Daily News, Rickey Wagoner, 49, told authorities that he was approached by three black teens wearing hoodies in February.

He said their faces were covered with blue bandannas and they attacked him because he was white. Wagoner told authorities that one teen yelled, “shoot the polar bear” and police assumed it was a slang term for fat white men.

He said the teens shot at him three times, stabbed him and took his money. Wagoner also said one of the bullets was stopped by a pocket sized Bible he stuffed in his chest pocket.

Wagoner received national attention for surviving the attack and was interviewed by several media outlets.

However, police recently discovered Wagoner lied about the entire ordeal. Authorities said Wagoner stabbed himself and then shot himself. He also shot the Bible to make it appear as if the book saved his life.

Wagoner worked for Dayton’s Regional Transit Authority for 10 years and will likely be fired.

His actions could have led to the arrest and prosecution of innocent black males, but police have yet to arrest Wagoner and charge him with filing a false report.
