If anyone still thinks the Ku Klux Klan only operates in small towns in the south they are wrong. This week, residents of the Atlanta community of Candler Park and Cabbagetown got a rude surprise on their cars and in their driveways. The KKK had left flyers all over the neighborhood seeking members and asking for support. The mostly white gentrified neighborhood residents were outraged and ripped down every flyer posted.

KKK Grand Wizard Robert Jones stated to local media “This is our national flyer drive … God is the author of segregation. He is the one who drew the color line.” The KKK flyers state “Save the land. Join the Klan.” and “We are a law-abiding Christian organization.” In addition, there is an offer for a KKK sponsored neighborhood watch.  The telephone number on the flyer is a North Carolina number and when called a recorded message states “Remember, if it ain’t white, it ain’t right. White power.”

Jones is part of a KKK chapter in North Carolina called the Loyal White Knights of the KKK, one of an estimated 110 chapters known to operate in the United States. The application form on the website states “If you are a native-born white American Citizen, 18 years or older White person of temperate habits, of Christian Faith, and believe in White Supremacy and 100% Americanism please fill in below. “
