Following rumors that surfaced of rapper Young Thug threatening to shoot a transgender in Atlanta and accusations that he was a notorious gay-basher, the hip-hop star posted a video on Instagram that has the public asking questions. More than the clip, the caption that was included is what has tongues wagging.
Young Thug posted some footage of himself on Instagram this week —footage that also included Cash Money Records’ CEO Bryan “Birdman” Williams. In the caption for the post-performance clip, Young Thug refers to Birdman as “his lover.”
“Me and my lover dripping!!!! Like always!!!” he wrote in the caption. “@birdman5star f— with me fool….”
Just a few days ago, the rapper posted an image of the MediaTakeout story that accused him of homophobia and making threats towards a transgender person. The story has since been deleted.
It’s unclear if Young Thug was being tongue-in-cheek with the caption. He has not addressed it since its posting. This past spring, Birdman spoke to Complex about his vision for Young Thug’s career.
“You know, you got the Wayne and the Drakes who really take songs and don’t rap at all. Might sing on a song. Might do just a little rapping. That’s what I see in him,” he said at the time. “He one of them that can do that. You know, Wayne developed into doing all these different things. And you got these young artists who really … Wayne is the mold for them. They watched Wayne. They studied Wayne. And he coming in the game like that. To me that put him on a higher level. Our plan as YMCMB and Rich Gang is to make him a superstar, a rock star.”
