Late rapper Big Pun’s mother a serial bank robber?

How’s this for bizarre? The mother of the late and much beloved rapper Big Pun was arrested at the end of September in connection with an armed robbery of a Wells Fargo bank in southwest Miami.

According to popular blogger Necole Bitchie, Pun’s mom, Gail Tirado, who uses the alias Gail Simpson, was already on probation for an attempted robbery charge from June when she was arrested in Florida. Tirado, who divided her time between Bronx, New York, and Miami was able to throw authorities off for a short time with the Simpson alias until fingerprints processing came back as a match.

Sources say that Tirado resorted to bank robbery after using up the funds of her late son’s estate.

Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time controversy has been involved in the estate of Big Pun, who died of a heart attack in 2000.

In 2009, Pun’s widow, Liza Rios sued her late husband’s mentor Fat Joe for profiting from Big Pun’s music without compensating his estate. Rios claims to not have received any profits from Pun’s music in almost ten years. Fat Joe says that he hasn’t made a penny from Pun since his death and contends that he has paperwork to prove it.
