Dallas Ebola patient dies; hospital to blame?

Thomas_Eric_Duncan_RIGHT_

Thomas Eric Duncan died this morning due to complications from the Ebola virus. Duncan’s health began to deteriorate this weekend. Doctors at Presbyterian Hospital decided to give him an experimental antiviral drug on Monday.

However, the drug did little to help his health and he was medically debated on Tuesday. He died this morning at 7:51 a.m.

Duncan came to America from Liberia after the virus became a pandemic in the African country. He was exposed to the virus while helping a pregnant woman who had the virus. Duncan lied before boarding a plane when asked if he was exposed to the virus.

When he arrived in Dallas, Texas, he became ill and went to the hospital. However, a nurse diagnosed him with a cold even after he told her he was recently in West Africa.

Duncan returned home to his fiancé and family and became more ill. A family member eventually called the CDC and Duncan was eventually treated.

His family has since been quarantined and are being monitored by health officials. Duncan’s body will have to be cremated or buried in a hermetically sealed casket so that the virus won’t spread.

i’m sure his family is going to sue the hospital. so sad, when he could have been treated the first time he went in.

This is a man whose efforts to circumvent the system failed. He came to this country knowing that he exposed himself to the virus and lied about it to get here basically for the purpose of getting treated. He selfishly exposed several people from people in 2 airport transfers, flights, children and family members. All he thought about was that people were coming here and getting cured and that his chances of survival were greater here. He didn’t account for the fact those people were going to the CDC where drugs were still in development and that “average joe” hospital in the US has not been dealing with this epidemic. So, of course they did not know what they were dealing with when he first came in, since he had lied about his exposure to Ebola in the first place. With folks like Jesse Jackson showing up on the scene and making this one about race, I’m sure his family will feel entitled to sue the hospital although his stay will be at the expense of the US taxpayer. I am black and I am not of the mindset that the life one selfish individual is worth more than the lives of the, airplane passengers and school children her directly and indirectly came in contact with.

        Yes sue their pants off
And no it’s not always about color just 99.9 percent

I’m almost 99% sure they will try to get money from this situation. And there are folks from the general public who haven’t been following this man’s story closely who will believe it’s justified. The media is already spinning this as a Romeo & Juliet kind of story stating that they reconnected and were going to get married. Despite the fact that this “girlfriend” of his had children from another relationship and he hadn’t seen his son he has with her since he was 3 years old. The real reason why his son (who is in college now) didn’t go to see him before he died: because he didn’t know him. This guy had a whole other life in Liberia that he dropped to come to the US (his employer even stated that he had no idea where he went until he saw him on the news and that he pretty much walked off the job).
The families of those 2 men from America who died in Liberia are those ones who should sue the US government for not making efforts for them. They are more justified than this guy who had never been to the U.S. But his family will use an accident of timing and circumstance to make this one about race (unlike those of us who have been living here day in and day out with injustices). So, yes, sue their pants off they will.

Who are you? A board member of the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, or maybe their attorney?

The Duncan family will damn well sue the hospital. After all, let us not forget that this is a nonprofit organization and therefore, they enjoy a tax benefit at the expense of taxpayers, so they of course will have to be held to account.

So go and sit your paltry so called “blackish” self, down somewhere!

they have no standings to sue anyone the hospital handled him occordingly he had no right to get on plane and come here knowing he was infested .. our fault he passed security , oviously america does no fluid check before allowing people here how many other liberians gonna come here escape the disese just to bring it over her to us .>? not fair

What a disgusting creature you are! I mean really, you a real piece of disgusting dirt, aren’t you! You need to go take a dip is someone’s baptismal pool, to wash away all that dirt there butter!

And I therefore must add, Mr. Duncan arrived here in America legally. So go on and chop-chop on that ebony wood, why don’t you?!

          • Likewaterforchoc on October 13, 2014 at 10:24 am

No, he did not arrive here “legally”. At the time of his death there were charges against him in his home country of Liberia for failing to tell the truth during his inquisition upon exiting the country. As I stated, folks who are not following the story closely and following Jesse Jacksons efforts will be easily taken in by the sensationalism of this story.

Who are YOU? Who I am is someone who is literate and has actually followed this story from beginning. One does not need to be an attorney. So, YOU go sit down somewhere!

Please….you are about 3 days too late…go back to hibernate in that dark cold hole you just crawled out of!

SUE THEM FOR WHAT , HE TELLING THEM HE FLY IN FROM AFRICA WOULDNT SOUND AN ALARM CAUSE FOR ONE YOU CANT JUDGE PEOPLE AND TWO THE NURSE TREATED HIM LIKE ANYONE ELSE CAUSE WE DIDNT THINK ANYONE COULD JUST COME HERE WITH THE DISEASE .. not sure how we come to that conclusion though

      • butterbeanbabe on October 10, 2014 at 7:51 pm

yes your on point .. also he supposedly told the nurse he had been to africa but didnt say he was in contact with a victim who died .. i feel the hospital should have been prepared for someone to come in those doors with ebola … the border is not closed yet so anyone can come here and we probably got some other africans who have come her who got it but decided not to come forward they are saying the hospital killed him off cause his country didnt want him back there ..and america was not keeping him here he was not a citizen which puts light on the other hundreds of africans with kids on american sole this lady may have been set to marry him .. i think and this put a wrench in his plans .. i think the lady was african to the one that was dating him .. they have her and her kids in isolation

        • Likewaterforchoc on October 13, 2014 at 10:43 am

Exactly. People are being “screened” at those airport prior to leaving their countries and when he was asked whether he had been in contact with someone, he stated “no”. He knew full well that he was carrying that pregnant woman who ended up dying hours later, so he just wanted to hurry and get out of Liberia because he knew he would would end up getting sick.

that was said so perfectly , couldnt have said it better i had to think about it carefully did race play a part , this is a case of race card reject … i usuallly play the race card to when i see fitt but this is not the time .. black white and all children are at risk , i give him credit for the fact he did seek help immediatly but look how many people were effected before hand .. all we need is this shit spreading in our schools with kids .. that would be a american tragedy to top them all…i cant believe how careless our goverment has been with securing the border between here and africa i dont care if africans are offended that we are distanceing ourselves from them . they already prejucdice against their own race .. they hate african americans they dont even go to black churches and dont want us comeing to theres either .. . seriously ….im glad of one thing that they got to open their eyes to the fact that we aint gonna candy coat it cause we need that money from them being here .. . they pay america hugh money to live here . .thats all fine but .. our safety comes before any dollar you can spend . i dont give a dam bout money when my kid is at risk of a disease .. no wonder they allowing them to come here with just a questionair asked .. that alone is HIDEIOUS AND DELUSIONAL WHO THE HELL IS RUNNING SHIT IN FEMA

  2. butterbeanbabe on October 10, 2014 at 10:23 pm

THE SAD THING IS THIS MAN DUNCAN ..DIDNT GIVE A SHIT BOUT NOBODY .. a sign of being african the nigerian particularly are i dont give adam individuals and they hate americans and make fun of us when they are in thier circle … it is said that duncan drove cabs and the city of dallas covered that so the cab businesses would not suffer . how fair is that to many people who rode in cabs that time. ?/
this whole ebola break out is about money .. if it means loseing tax dollar or city funds they gonna cover .you see how the mayor and city counsilman was holding that family hands literally saying they were right there with the victims girlfriend .. lol you believe that your a fool .. someone know exactly how many people he was exposed to . all the lies you read on line is lies and placed there by the city of dallas so tourism want be effected . .foot ball game etc. . people will cancell trip to dallas rigt away if they think others may be dropping dead you dont know what hotel you will stay in that a liberian is living who just come back from liberia or what cab driver will handle your luggage since there are hundreds of africans at airports driving dam cabs . the risk is higher than we think . i have not left the house accept for work and grocery and to pick up the kids .
this is really a tragedy for our country ..and we better close the airport are its gonna get worst in the next year .. it aint gone when you know there are 50000 africans with it > ? you want us to think its going away …. as long as we got africans here .. and we all know they dont go to hospitals for nothing … really their diet keeps them from getting diabetes , heart disesae and shit they eat natural foods imported form africa they dont even eat our meat .. their meat is imported or organic … go to any hospital you will hardly see a chinese or african in there .. mostly americans cause of all the processed food we eat fast food and junk ..has killed way more people than ebola has .. so in other words were doomed either way only thing ebola makes you suffer immediatly and die … real shit

jessie jackson trip there was not appreciated cause no body ever want to recognize race as being a factor in how blacks are treated different if that man was white .. he would have lved and been given the atidope they gave the 2 whites in georgia duncan made his mistake but the city failed by not qurantining him immediatly when he said he had been to africa what was that nurse thinking that doctor who saw him was totally in the wrong and should have his license revoked . seriously all the blame cant be put on duncan ., people need to stop casting stones on the victim only as the only issue .. he did his wrong but he died as result of his own self . cause i do believe they didnt save him on purpose . for real
