Kenya Moore makes large donation to Detroit public schools

Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Kenya Moore is paying it forward, after the reality star neglected to make a scheduled appearance at a Detroit high school … twice! Last week, Moore, 43, was scheduled to appear in Detroit, Michigan, with the promise of a $20,000 check but was a no-show. In fact, this was the second time Moore cancelled on Cass Technical High School and had to reschedule.

The former beauty queen, a 1989 Cass Tech graduate herself, was set to attend an assembly at Cass on Friday, but following an alleged scheduling conflict involving her family, was a no-show. As you can imagine, her lack of commitment, not once but twice didn’t sit well with fans who criticized Moore for her absence.

Luckily for Moore, her camp has since smoothed things over, confirming that Moore still plans on donating the funds. Moore even captured a photo holding the check … so you know it’s real.

She posted to Instagram,

“I’m proud to be able to give back and keep my promise to the Detroit Public Schools Foundation to donate $20,000. Detroit is a resilient city and so am I. I will continue to shine despite the people who want to see me fail or try to turn my positivity into negativity. See you soon Detroit! #igotyomoney #kenyalovesthekids #twirlsawayhaters”

Sound familiar? Several months ago, Moore held a swanky charity gala stating that the funds would benefit Saving Our Daughters, an organization her cast mate NeNe Leakes works closely with. Soon following Moore’s announcement, the organization slammed Moore, claiming that they never received the “thousands of dollars” Moore claimed the event raised.
