Faith Evans and the Notorious B.I.G. were a high-profile couple in hip-hop circles during the mid-1990s. The brief-but-tumultuous marriage has been the subject of endless rumors and speculation, but Faith recently spoke about one major roadblock to her “happily ever after” with Biggie: Lil Kim. B.I.G. and Kim had a well-documented bond and Kim was one of several women that Biggie kept romantic ties with during his marriage to Faith. But despite the high publicity surrounding all involved at the time, Faith says she didn’t know that there was anything happening between her husband and his protégé at first.

“I didn’t know anything about them for … this is probably at least a year-and-a-half after we were together so I didn’t know anything about them,” Faith told VladTV. “I didn’t even think anything of them to be quite honest.”

The singer also admitted that she and Kim were never close friends, even before the affair with B.I.G.

“It was pretty shocking, but just to be clear, I wouldn’t necessarily say she befriended me or something,” she said. “To be honest she probably wasn’t feeling the whole idea of him telling me to go shopping. We didn’t spend a whole lot of time together, but we did hang out a few times.”
