Is infidelity so commonplace that we need a term like “single husbands”?

New York Times best-selling author and sexpert Mary “Honey B” Morrison says “Yes!”

“Most people who are in relationships are dealing with some level of cheating whether they are aware of it or not,” Morrison says. “I think a lot of people will be able to relate to this play.”

Morrison is speaking about her upcoming provocative stage play, Single Husbands, which will debut at the Southwest Arts Center located in the bustling Cascade neighborhood. Single Husbands is a fictional account of three married men who refuse to relinquish the sexual freedom they enjoyed as single men to make their marriages work. Although each of the men are stepping outside their marriage for a different reason, the bottom line is the same. “All of these guys got married for the wrong reasons,” Morrison explains, “but then again, many men and women do.”

Single Husbands originally debuted in Oakland, California, to rave reviews; and Morrison believes that Hotlanta will prove a receptive market for the play that deals with adult issues on relationships, the changing definition of marriage, and sexuality. “Love and relationships are hot topics that never get old. My purpose as a writer is to encourage discussion. Everyone has different views and opinions but the key to working through any dilemma is to have open dialogue; this enables everyone to learn,” Morrison says.

With 19 published novels, more than three million books in print, and a thriving fan base, Morrison is known for addressing both social and sexual issues while empowering her female characters, which in turn empowers her female audience. Morrison also writes under the pseudonym “Honey B” when writing erotica. She has four published novels as Honey B. Whether writing as Mary B. Morrison or Honey B; she believes in the motto: “Women rule. Beside every great man there is a powerful woman. The same does not hold true for every successful woman.” –christal jordan

Single Husbands will run Nov. 6–9  at the Southwest Arts Center located at 915 New Hope Rd. SW, Atlanta, Ga. 30331.
