Kelsey Rose Salie, 21, has hopes of becoming a teacher and is studying at North Georgia College and State University. However, Salie now has a mark against her record for stealing while on the job.

According to Forsyth County News, Salie served as an intern at Chestatee Elementary School in Forsyth County, Georgia, when the crime took place. During class hours, Salie stole an iPad from a 6-year-old student’s backpack.

After leaving the school, Salie allowed her boyfriend to sell the iPad on his Facebook page. She received $200 for the iPad. But once the buyer turned on the device, contact information for the child’s parents was displayed on the screen. The buyer contacted the child’s parents and returned the iPad.

Salie returned the money she received, but she was still arrested and charged with misdemeanor theft. She was released on a $1,150 bond. If found guilty, Salie could face suspension or expulsion from North Georgia College.

Salie told police she stole the iPad to buy her family gifts for Christmas.
