When a rapper gets dropped from their major record label, it’s not always a bad thing. This past year, Chief Keef and Trinidad James ended their label deals with their respective record labels and while their reasons may have all been different, the bottom line is always money. Artists focus on quality while the label executives focus on quantity, and sometimes those two things just don’t add up. While from the outside it may seem like the end of the world, many artists go on to do big things after the fact. Look at Wiz Khalifa! In this day and age, hip-hop stars are being born in the underground scene where independent artists frequent.
