Katy Perry contributes to TLC’s Kickstarter album fund

Earlier this week, TLC announced that they were funding their fifth and final album through Kickstarter and they asked their fans to help pay for the album so they could keep creative control. After seeing a wave of support from their loyal fan base, TLC has now gotten some support from pop queen Katy Perry.

According to TMZ, sources say that Perry is such a big fan of TLC that she donated $5,000 to their Kickstarter fund.

The source also claims that Perry chose the $5,000 donation package that includes a slumber party in L.A. with T-Boz. She also earned a vinyl, TLC scrapbook, dance lessons, fanmail, a digital album, a list of the group’s favorite songs and a Kickstarter remix.

Perry’s contribution comes fresh off the heels of TLC’s tour mates, NKOTB, pledging $10,000 to their album.

And despite the fact that TLC was initially criticized for launching a Kickstarter fund for their album, it looks like their plan has worked out better than anyone expected. Check out how much they’ve earned of their $150,000 goal after the cut.
