A man in New York went on a shooting rampage against his family. According to The Associated Press, Jonathon Walker, 34, of Queens, New York, believed that his live-in girlfriend was cheating on him.
He got drunk at a local bar and arrived at his family’s home before dawn on Jan. 24. Once inside the home, Walker shot and killed his daughter Kayla, 7; his girlfriend Shantai Hale, 31; Hale’s mother Viola Warren, 62; and Hale’s daughter. He shot them all as they slept. Walker also shot his 12-year-old daughter in the head, but she moved slightly and the bullet passed through without touching a vital organ. The middle school student called 911 and described the horrific scene to authorities.
Authorities began searching for Walker and discovered his car near JFK airport. He was found dead with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
Viola Warren’s mother said that Walker and the family seemed to be fine during a gathering on Christmas. She never imagined that Walker would commit such a horrendous act.
Walker’s 12-year-old daughter is currently in critical condition.
