Did you work as an escort?

Yes, I have escorted and I even walked the streets before. I walked the streets a large portion of my 20s, I sit here today to say that I am unashamed of what I did in the sex industry. It unsheltered me to things that I would have been taught by a woman. I actually had to go out there and experience life. People don’t understand that hustlers, streetwalkers and go-getters are so wise because they are the hands-on people. I learned about people. People paint a façade about stuff.

When you were escorting, did you have more White men or Black men as clients?

Well, when I was escorting, there are different levels of escorting so let’s start there. When I was walking the streets I had a Black woman’s look. I looked like a Black woman. So I attracted Black men and White men that liked plus-sized girls. Once you are past a size six, you are plus-sized to a White man. When I took the escorting to the Internet and magazines, I pulled in a lot of White men. But here’s the thing; when White men like a woman they like the same thing a lot of times, large boobs. Black men like a– and body. To certain White men, if you have a large a– and body, you’re overweight. So my hips are 60, so I am overweight to White men but a Black man wants to “tear that up.” He wants to put that thing on all fours and watch the moon, the stars the whole earth. He wants it all, ya know? Some White men indulge in that too, but they like thinner, tall, big boobs.

A few years after finishing high school, you formed an adult entertainment video site called bigd–kb—h.com. How did you get into the adult entertainment business?

I got into the business by accident. I got into the sex business by accident. I knew that men were prone to take care of women but I didn’t know they were prone to taking care of transgender women as well. I am not trying to glorify the sex trade at all but a large number of transgender women are involved because it is taboo.

Let’s talk a little about you as a businesswoman. You have a very successful company called Raw Dawg Entertainment, tell us about that.

Raw Dawg Entertainment specializes in adult entertainment movies featuring trans women. I wanted to put more trans movies out, specifically urban movies. I did this because of the way the White America dominates us in every aspect. The White companies treat people of color poorly. They make millions of dollars off of our Black skin and give us nothing. They own the rights to all the stuff produced. What hurts me is that Black people will go and work for a company that is White-owned, White-operated and they get on a box and let these people call them n—-rs. There is no way that I would allow a White-owned company to call us n—-r. So I decided I would form a company for trans women that produces videos of trans women of color and where it is not degrading. Some may ask how can you avoid be degraded in porn? Well, there are things like slurs.

In a lot of your videos there are young black men who you never assume to be gay. They look like the brothers on the corner or in the club listening to rap music. Do you see more young black men into transgender women?

Yes. I see them more open with it than during the ’90s. It’s because of girls like me and streetwalkers and escorts that men became more open with it because they are doing it more frequently. I feel my website and videos played a large part in men [being] accepting. I have been written to many times by men and women who ask “How did you get my homeboy on your site?” or “That is my baby’s daddy, how did he get on your site?” I respond for one that he was already attracted and two hey, I’m Madison I have those types of powers. I can do that!

Do you think part of this is because the men are not being penetrated and they are the ones penetrating that they do not consider themselves homosexual?

Yes. I do believe that. People look at what you do during a sexual encounter as how you are labeled. So some men say I want to perform oral or anal. I’ll just be the pitcher, you be the catcher. I do not think that a man who is attracted to a trans woman is a homosexual. Take for example “pegging.”

What is pegging?

Pegging is when a woman uses a strap-on dildo to have anal sex with a man. Does this make him gay because a woman is doing this? It’s all about the prostate. If you hit it right, a man can have a powerful orgasm. It’s like one of those sensations that are out of control.
