TS Madison is an adult entertainer, model, comedian, actress, and a social media sensation. Through her company, Raw Dawg Entertainment, her adult videos and personality have opened new doors not only for the LGBT community but for her also. She spoke recently with rolling out.

How did you become a part of mainstream pop culture?

I am the queen of catchphrases. People follow me because I say real and true stuff. I do not have a filter when it comes down to what I feel. The song “Yasss Bish Yasss” that Nicki Minaj and Soulja Boy put out that was my catchphrase. But they did not give any acknowledgement that it came from the transgender community and made millions of dollars off of it. I was angry about that, because I was the one running around saying this. Then I hear it in a song. And, I did not get a dollar for it. But I started making music because I felt if they’re doing it I might as well make a song. I will be on an upcoming episode of the TV show “Glee” and that was an experience. Because the cast members were all fans, they would gather around the table and talk to me. At that moment, I realized I needed to continue to speak out. But there are still some people who say “What could you possibly have to say? You’re a porn star. You’re a whore. You’re an escort. You’re trash.” But I say to them, sweetie, do you not understand that God takes the dirtiest of things, dusts it off, cleans it off, and makes it shine brighter than anything you can ever see?

She probably should have trademarked the phrase. That’s a big issue in the black community as a whole, though. We tend to create things and then let “others’ get a hold of it and make money from it. We now have Taylor Swift trying to trademark phrases that have existed (some from black culture/slang) for years. This should be a lesson…own your art!
